Footswitchable Pre-Recorded Loops
Hello.
I've searched through a few pedals here and there but can't seem to make this request work.
Is there a loop/sample pedal that allows you to pre-record loops and then allows you to cycle through them with your feet (on the pedal or with an optional footswitch) instead of having to bend your sweet ass over and cycle through them with your sweet ass finger? It would be nice to be able to do it hands free between songs during a RIPPING set.
Oh and also giving you the option to record live on-the-fly samples as well of course.
Thonks.

Easily the best hardware based solution.ognoy wrote:Boss RC-3 + FS-6.
How open to software solutions are you? I know you can run some programs off a laptop with a midi controller to do just this.

Re: Footswitchable Pre-Recorded Loops
I'm moderately open but I wanted to keep it at the stompbox level so I'd have the option of doing some looping on the fly if wanted to.
I forgot one of my stips was that it could do Reverse on the fly, and it looks like, and I never noticed this before, but the BOSS RC-20 seems to have 11 storage spots, plus remote inputs on the back for both cycling through loops and reverse. So that looks pretty cool. Hopefully I'm decoding that right.
Thanks for the suggestions!

This is quite easy to do.ognoy wrote:Boss RC-3 + FS-6.
After recording a loop on your RC-3 hook up the pedal to your computer and
check out how the audio files are stored in the appropriate folders. Then you
can just put the pre-recorded audio you want in the appropriate folders of
the RC-3 and use the FS-6 to cycle through them in a live context.
Works.

I know OP didn't specify budget nor portability, butweebles wrote:Ableton plus midi footswitch.

Intro-Level Live and the MIDI footswitch would be cheaper than/around the same price as a new RC-3.
You don't really even need the footswitch if you want to just reach over to your computer and start the next section, which is what I do when I'm playing a solo acoustic set and want to add some #ambientnotes to play over.

I'm not bringing my desktop to a LAN or anything. I've got a laptop that goes in a backpack along with my pedalboard.

Re: Footswitchable Pre-Recorded Loops
BOSS RC2 and RC3 both let you do this with an external footswitch, and that's probably the way to go. You can also use a Pigtronix Infinity for this. I've used it to switch between two pre-recorded loops for a song - which was all I needed - but I don't know if you can remotely switch banks or not.

Digitech jamman stereo is a bit bulky, but the layout is pretty easy for live loops and for switching loops.

Yeah. If you already have a laptop... then that might be a way to go.weebles wrote:I'm not bringing my desktop to a LAN or anything. I've got a laptop that goes in a backpack along with my pedalboard.
Not everybody has a laptop/cellphone and not everybody wants to
lug laptop or twiddle cellphone to make music.
For those that do... the options are wider. Some free or cheapish.

Was gonna suggest this. This is honestly the best straightforward option for what the OP seems to want.

Re: Footswitchable Pre-Recorded Loops
The Solo also has an input for an external footswitch that allows loop up/down, and a separate switch for STOP. They are easy to build if you need one but don't wanna drop the 50ish bucks for one (Digitech fs3x)Faldoe wrote:harpies wrote:Digitech jamman stereo is a bit bulky, but the layout is pretty easy for live loops and for switching loops.

Doesn't do reverse.
