Fuzz with cream attack and low noise

Post by CORVO78 »

Hello !!!
I've just bought my Musket Fuzz V1 and I'm lookn' for a second weapon to complete my sound.
I use a Les paul (copy) guitar with a 5150 (mod head with KT66 valve ) , mesa 4x12 and I play a sort of Stoner Desert Rock (70's sound) ... Ok ...I try to do it ...
Here in Italy we don't have many deserts... ahhahaha

Anyway I've noticed that my sound, tight and compressed ( my Musket does his the dirty work in a great way ) lacked in some mellow rithm parts , so I've stated to lookin' for a good fuzz : not noisy and with mellow and creamy attack ...

Barber Trifecta, Dallas arbiter Fuzz Face , Alal Bloom ... other? I'm quite new about Fuzz territory ...

My budget goes to 180 $ ...

I think he's got the muff covered with the v1 musket.

I'd look into a fuzz face type of circuit. The dream crusher can be really creamy at full gain, but you can roll back the volume to get a good fuzzy OD tone. And it's almost silent at full gain with a strat! :wha?:

You could cover a LOT of ground with those two boxes.

Otherwise, not a fuzz, but a Hotcake is really woolly and creamy. Awesome OD/Distortion box.

I think you might dig the oxfuzz...it's a fuzzface variant built by Ken from Sons of Otis.
Now that I think about it I might go buy one

I'm also looking for a fuzz face or clone...... I kind of want one but I fucking hate how big they are....... I'm a man on the go, I don't have time to dilly dally with a bunch of giant pedals since I have a DMM and am on the lookout for a Electric Mistress....... I also don't trust those MXR fuzz reproductions for whatever reason...... SOOOOOOO anyone wants to name off a cool fuzz face clone I'm all ears......

Eh, Dream Crusher from EQD! :hello:

AFAIK Jamie is putting out some more. Seriously awesome (small too!) fuzz face.

And I'd second the OX. I'd LOVE one.

Isn't the Fuzz Face by its very nature a bit noisy?
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

Current ILF Love: OHNOHO CHK CHK BOOM, Mellowtone Melx Fuzz 2, EQD Dream Crusher, Devi Ever ID, Dr. Scientist Proto-Miniberator - new vids eventually

Correct... simple design, little filtering, highest gain they could pull out of two transistors, but I suppose it's nowhere near as bad as a Big Muff, unless it's germanium, then it very well may be especially depending on temperature unless Preventative methods are used.

Then again, what standard fuzz isn't a bit noisey (one or two probably, hush whoever calls it out :p )

Someone could just put some sort of gate or noise filter on it and that would work, I guess.

Yeah i'd stick a noise gate at the end of your chain, simplest solution really and opens up your choices.
