One Board, One Brand
Can you build a functional pedalboard for yourself using only one brand?*
I recently played around with this idea on some of the pedalboard planner style websites. There's only a handful of brands that have a deep enough bench to cover most pedal types, excluding the more far out niche noisemaker stuff. The main contenders are the most obvious, Boss and EHX. Some of the more "boutique" brands have impressively well stocked lineups in some areas, but are light or totally lacking in others. So it really depends on your personal pedal focus. There are some brands that only have certain modulation style pedals in combination with other types of effects. Some brands have several fuzzes, but no distortions, some have several overdrives and few fuzzes, some only have modulation in combination with other effects. So there's a lot of possibilities depending on personal taste.
Most production and well known boutique brands are covered between these two:

http://templeplanner.com/
So, imagine your eventual sponsorship deals and post your creations!
*Exceptions granted for utility pedals such as tuners, ABY and possibly volume/expression pedals.

Would be more than happy with this for guitar, and all I would need to do is get a BF-2 back in my life.
edit: added one I would use with my synth

One elements, one Frazz Dazzler, three bitquests. Can't go wrong.
...Or just throw a katamari ball at the EQD warehouse, you'll probably end up with a functioning board.

Yeah, Boss has the best "Swiss Army Knife" potential, just they cover every basic tone/effect, but not much exotic outside some of the mult-fx. EQD has more noise making and dirt variety potential. EQD is definitely the high order fuzz and crazy sounds master, though they have some gaps in specific basic dirt sounds that just aren't their thing traditionally.
Here's some based on hypothetical boards I've built in my head a bunch of times in the past couple months:
Boss "All Purpose Rock" board:

I feel like I could sub out about any modulation pedals where the phase and tremolo are, to taste. Flanger, chorus, whatever. Lots of potential to configure this into a stereo rig if desired too. If you keep building upon this kind of configuration with a larger board you can do things like throw in the LS-2 and a volume pedal and have a parallel path for wet signal only ambient swells and that kind of thing.
EQD "Heavy & Spacey" board:

This is pretty much the kind of signal chain I always use for heavy Stoner/Doom type stuff on guitar. I could scale up or down easily with the modulation and verb/delay. Could go to a Dispatch Master or even just Ghost Echo for the end, sub out any number of their fuzzes and overdrives/boosts together for different dirt tones.

I'm feeling this, in a Zen garden, sound of one hand clapping kind of way.Aghartha wrote:Already on it

Easy to overlook, but they DO have that dirt now. Moog needs to come out with a big wood panel sided mothership fuzz pedal. Clipping style/wave shape control, HPF/LPF, multi-band EQ, whatever other freaky deaky stuff they can cram in there.actual wrote:![]()

I'd love to see someone do a deep dive, over the top noisemaker EHX board. They have one of the biggest roster of pedal, with the most diversity of types of effects and crazy weird one offs, even though I rarely see pedalboards that are mostly EHX. You could do a classic rock board, a heavy board, any number of elaborate rock sub-genre intensive boards all the way to off the wall cosmic synth motherships. Those are not my tone zone anyway, but if someone wants to build out one of those, I'd love to see it.

I'm into it...but I could use some fuzz. None of the builder websites have the green Russian Muff on there yet, BTW. Which is disappointing. Not that it matters from an actual practical planning tool perspective, it's a standard pedal format/size they use.friendship wrote:I'd fuck with this, Corey

I'd happily spend an hour or two with this:
So much so that it's really only a matter of time before I'll be able to
