I'm a 1.12 man myself. Or Dunlop extra heavies... it's funny I started with thin picks, but as my right hand technique developed I found I needed a more stiff pick to hit the accuracy.. thin picks are good for church camp strumming hehe

I let it talk.

And not in the "I play the scales I know" - but "no preconceived anything" - I just sit down and let the music/noise/whatever take me where it goes.

And I never worry about doing the same thing again.

I ehm... tune my guitar using... Rocksmith.

My guitar pretty much never goes out of tune, so when I tune it (to get another tuning), I want to get it right—thus ruling out tuning by ear, 'cos I'm not precise enough. I'm poor, so that rules out a tuning pedal. And using an app is a lot more hubbub than Rocksmith, since i) the mic picks up ambient noise, ii) you can't (with any of the ones I've used) pick what tuning you want, and then tune each string against its respective target tone, so the UI is less friendly.

What about band rehearsal, you ask? Surely, I'm not gonna bring Rocksmith? Well, no, I'm not *that* odd. I'll just have my guitar in open D, capo it to get open E, and, eh, change guitar if I wanna use Eb. -_o_-

I'm not sure how weird this is but over the years I have worked in using multiple fingerings of the same chord shape depending on the context of the riff/song. It doesn't become apparent until I am showing or teaching someone a riff. There quite a few different ways to play a simple powerchord, first/ring/pinky, first/barre the rest, first/pinky, first/ring, etc. And I shuffle between them depending on what else I am doing before, after, and during playing that chord.

I do this too. My hand sometimes cramps up if I do the same kind of chording for too long (ie thumb back/thumb over) so I'm always mixing it up. Also, inversions!

I use the round corner of the plectrum, have the guitar really high and only use delay/reverb some of the time.

And I play the standard A major chord with my middle finger only.

I do that for finger picking chord progressions AND when I'm not using the high e string on that A Maj. May I please ask, using only the middle finger, does your high e string ring? Like, are you over it? My other thought was maybe you tune down to d? That way you could use you middle finger for four strings as opposed to three?

NVM...I just tried it after typing this initial thought. The high e is not an issue I like this better too so...thank you!!!
