Weird delay suggestions

Post by Moonweed »

As the title says, I’m looking for wierd delay suggestions. Maybe something rarer/harder to get. Doesn’t necessarily have to be. I run a Tonal Recall now, which I love, but just trying to open my mind up to check out other stuff. I’m in a shoegaze type band and I’m always looking for pedals that may give me the ability to get some wierd sounds that are hard to replicate.

So far I really dig the demos of the Ezhi & Aka Tape T (I have a Terverb) and the 80Tape In Limbo iii, just to give you a snapshot on what I’ve been looking at lately.

You could get an EHX 8-Step to bring out new rhythms and oddball stuff.

As far as weird goes, there are definitely solid options without going as far as an MF-104mSD. The Red Panda Particle, Source Audio Nemesis, Keeley Echoes, and Keeley Mesmer are some to look at. I use an Empress Echosystem and an EQD Space Spiral, too (owned all except a Mesmer). Also, the Avalanche Run can do weird stuff, that is somewhat overlooked.

I'm selling an Echo Degrader... :p
I can not respond to a PM for a few days to help with pedal hunt simulation.

I haven't used the Kinkilin, but I've had good experiences with other Copilot releases.

Echorec makes a great point about the 8-step! Given the level of insanity that the Tonal Recall is already capable of, adding an external sequencer for additional control will really take it into sounds untouchable by any other delay.

Have you also thought about any glitch pedals to mix with the delay you already have? Raptio or something?

DD-500, if you don't mind spending some time to make it go wacky and buying it in your local Guitar Center.

Thought about this, too, but I'm not quite sure what 2018 shoegaze sounds like. :idk:

My man is right on the money, but you do have to spend a bit of time with it to get weird, and it's got not a lot of Instagram cred.

^^^Just put a post-it note with a different brand name over it. That's what I've been doing. I acquired lots of cool gear that way at affordable prices.

Very different beasts, but I love the smoothness of the Tåken a lot. The asynchronous multi-heads would probably fit shoegaze well.

Came here to say Pladask too!

The Gjengangar is pure bliss and can be insanely satisfying. It has a gate so that you can control if it’s engaged by how hard you hit. I found it very useful, especially in noise contexts. I have no clue what 2018 shoegaze sounds like, so that is my 5ct.

Also it is rare and discontinued so the hubris strong with this one. (I got mine after they were discontinued so not impossible)
