Sunn Beta Lead 212 Combo

Anyone haz? Any opinions?

Thinking about getting one but the dude lives too far away for me to drive there and try it. Never played any of these guys, they are pretty hard to get over here. Like Sunn Amps in general.

Also, if someone knows how much this badass weighs that would be appreciated. Thinking about hiring someone to get it for me but I'd have to know the weight for that.

it's heavy as FUCK!

i had one in 1979-1980, when they were new. yes, i am THAT old

they are LOUD AS BALLS.........two channels, solid state, and seem to have gotten popular among the doom rocker set.

the built in gain is sort of buzzy solid state sounding......but i am sure it would probably CRUSH with pedals pushing it.

i remember doing a show with mine at high school, and the music store loaned me the matching SUNN 4x12 cab to run with it.....6x12 action, it was louder than the PA system

I really loved my Sunn Beta Lead. I prefer it over a lot of tube amps I've heard. I think it weighs in at 65 pounds, I know because I sold one to a guy in Australia. The reverb is unheard of and so versatile. The gain was crap but who cares we are pedal users anyways. The sickest thing is using both the a and b channel at the same time, it will blow your mind. It's loud as hell, and that is why I don't have mine anymore. I say it's worth every penny you spend. I could go into massive detail about each feature on the amp but I won't because it would turn into a novel.

Worst, absolutely worst case scenario. I put Jbidwatcher to snipe the auction cause I was out watching germany play football. I come home, the computer is in sleep mode and the amp is sold to someone else. For 90 Euro. I do not have the words to express my frustration upon this.

curious because i remember seeing a couple sunn amps there in the early 90's
and i always thought they were a dealer.

Contacting the seller can be an option. I might still get my hands on this. Apparently the dude that bought it is troublesome so I might get it on the rebound. Now let's wait and see.

to the poster above -- the dealer i bought mine from was in New Orleans, called Westbank Music, guess this was 1981....the matching 4x12 was PIMP.....had white front under the black grillecloth.....have not SEEN one of those in along time.

during that era, SUNN also made a cheaper combo series called the ALPHA......single 12 combos, i saw one here in miami on craigslist recently for $75....

Did not work out.

Now I found another one, this time with only one speaker 112, I guess. Is that the ugly duckling or is it good too? Weird, some higher being seems to want me to get one. I couldn't tell what else might be the reason for these suddenly popping up like mushrooms. Honestly, I've never seen them for sale over here and now here's the second in two weeks. Isn't that odd?

But this one is not bad either, is it?

I had no idea a 1x12 even existed. I thought it was either 2x12 or just the head unit. I'm very intrigued by this!
