You hear that sound? That's the sound of every TGP member creaming themselves simultaneously.

According to this video, I still won't be owning a tube screamer.Inconuucl wrote:https://www.gearnews.com/ibanez-nutube-screamer-released-namm-show/

I could have done a lot worse. Just google it, but before you do grab a bottle of jack and a revolver and prepare yourself for the event horizon.

Re: A few NAMM nuggets
Maxon already makes a couple pedals with subminiature tubes, that just seems like a natural progression. That it doesn't require the derpy laptop power supply of the former should make it an easier sell, though, never mind the branding.

Agreed, but despite having an awful name, those nutubes are some pretty cool tech. I played my friend's little vox MV-50 and it sounded pretty great, especially as you drive it harder. Still not interested in a TS type pedal but I hope some other companies try some cool stuff with the nutubes.

Re: A few NAMM nuggets
It's cool technology but I'm not sure how useful it really is. There haven't been any reports on the lifespan of them yet though (that I could find)? A vacuum tube i still a vacuum tube even if it's using different technology. Are they replaceable? I know that supposedly the tube vendors are disappearing, but are we just replacing it with something else just smaller and harder to replace even though it might last a little longer? I mean, if they're cheaper to make, sound good and easily replaceable when they burn out I can be pretty ok with them as long as they don't become an annoying marketing gimmick as it seems they're destined to become..worra wrote:I hope some other companies try some cool stuff with the nutubes.

Re: A few NAMM nuggets
They supposedly have a life expectancy of 30k hours.
Clean blend is nice on the new one. I'm not as opposed to t00bskreamers as most here I think, so I'm looking forward to better demos.
Edit: also the name finally makes sense.

Re: A few NAMM nuggets
Oh totes, I've played a few awesome things that use the little tubes... the Effectrode stuff especially comes to mind. I know they had to stop making a few things (namely the Mercury Fuzz) due to availability of the tubes they were using, so I'm guessing it might've been something different. Because of the scarcity of those tubes and the question of life (and exorbitant prices), I shied away from that one...worra wrote:Agreed, but despite having an awful name, those nutubes are some pretty cool tech. 30k hours tho? Damn.
EDIT yep those were Philips NOS subminiature tubes. Still p cool about the Nutube life, tho. Just want it in a non-midrangey drive, haha...

What you describe is exactly the looper I've been wishing existed... except without TC's garbage switches...Olin wrote:Damn, looper is 'spensive.
Isn't it still less than a Boomerang 3 though? I'll wait a bit to see what features it has to justify that price point before being too critical of it. If TC would just make a fucking X3, a size between X2 and X4, with two channels, none of the effects, MIDI and a stop button I would be into it.
It is at least nice to see it'll be out there soon.

Psyched about the 95000.
Curious about the features and if it can knock out the Boomarang III.
