DRod's Music Challenges JAN

Post by DRodriguez »

I'm going to start doing a monthly music thing. Just monthly song challenges to make me think outside the box a bit. Was going to start in January, but why not now.

This is not a collaboration or album. Feel free to join or post your own tracks that try to accomplish the challenges.

DECEMBER CHALLENGE
Compose a song only using 2 elements. Whatever that means to you.

Submissions JANUARY CHALLENGE
Illustrate, accentuate, or create silence.

I was certain you'd choose two The Elements....

so here's your prog-metal challenge: use only two elements like... verse & chorus :-P
aural conjunctions on SC

I hate moodswings are awesome! Oh, and I usually post when I'm way too tired...

This is cool I like this. I'm gonna create something using 'fire' and 'mixtape'

I'm in!

I'll use 2 drum machines only.

Does a Volca Sample count as a drum machine?

I love the idea of this. Hoping to get something together. I might use just two pieces of gear. I'm thinking a pedal and a piano. Hardest part will be recording it, but that's exactly what I need to get better at so this is good motivation.

Anyone trying to do the December challenge? I’m working on it but we’re on vacation so I’m trying to make something happen with my phone and whatever is at my folk’s house. An extra level of challenge for sure.

I'd love to participate, but my interface is bust and the studio is still under construction, so can't record stuff untill one of those two problems no longer are problems.

I did some recording. Too much actually, so now I have to sort through 45 minutes of it. Need some distance from it to see how I feel about all of it. At the very least I will cut out a chunk to share here. I didn't get deep with the premise of two elements, simply started with two devices that are instruments in their own right (Drone Commander classic pedal and EP3). Used them together as one voice so added a 2nd voice built from two other devices (Drumbrute and Biscuit).
