Red Shift Effects Mirage (dsp based delay)

Post by Jwar »

Hey homies! I follow this dude on Instagram and was wondering if anyone else had seen/heard it?

It's a delay but so much more. I've been listening for what seems like months now and anxiously waiting. Dude just started a Kickstarter for the pedal, which I know normally Kickstarter is a scary thing. I'm not sure about the actual risks involved here but I know it looks and sounds amazing. Could you do all this with a normal delay? Maybe but this thing is worth a look at least.

Curious what you guys think.

There are a lot of cool sounds in there. Have they ever produced anything before?

I've been searching for an effect with plenty of delay time. Thanks for posting.

That’s a good question! I may ask him on Instagram. Based on the skill level involved here, I think yes, but I guess you never know. I’ll dm them on Insta and let you know!

I think it looks killer so backed. Lol

So, I did get a response. He (she?? Not sure) told me that it's their first effect that is outside of super small runs. They said they have been lurking here however for some time and will be joining up. So, I'm sure any questions can be answered once that happens.

I dunno. It sounds good to me, so I guess I'm wiling to risk it. I know Kickstarter is a risk and people have been burned there, so I get it if there's apprehension. I just thought I'd share regardless. :)

Looks nice.
But, as per my general philosophy, I'm wouldn't touch that for a second until reviews came out and distributors were selling them.
The complete lack of any history other than some IG posts and the fact that their first "real" pedal is through Kickstarter does not fill me with trust.

This is all valid. I can understand the feeling.

For me, it seems unique enough that I'm willing to take the risk but I get if others aren't. I mean, normally I'm not so, yea. lol. I have no idea why I feel better about this one? I don't know. That brain consistency thing in action I suppose. hahaha

Anyway, since I asked the dude to join, and he's pending approval, can you all just promise not to flame him into oblivion? I know how ILF is and I get it, but I asked him to join to answer questions and show off his product. I figured more would be inclined to see a pedal than other stuff that gets spammed here.

Definitely sounds great and I really like that the volume/mix controls are small and out of the way. I feel like those settings are the toughest to dial in and keep when going from practice to gigs, etc.

However, whenever I come across a pedal like this that packs in so many features into one unit... it is tough to justify keeping it around if I bought one. Usually I will dial in a nice setting keep it and then think about how I am not using the pedal to its fullest potential and then trade it away for a more focused pedal. I mean this pedal approaches DL-4 to Timeline level in terms of options, but from what I have seen there is no way to save presets. :idk: Maybe the pedal is easier to navigate than I am imagining but it seems limiting in that regard.

Since you started the thread and personally invited him, things should be fine.
It's not like his first post is gonna be, "hey, guys, I'm just asking questions about this thing that you should buy that I make," that's been reposted on half a million other forums. :snax:

Hey guys, this is Ben from RedShift Effects - I'm involved in the design and programming of the Mirage.

I get the apprehension some have with crowdfunded projects like this. As a small company developing a fairly sophisticated product, it's reassuring to know that there is interest before putting things into production - this was our justification for going this route. Anyway, feel free to ask me any questions about the pedal!
