jia. i started that today, but put it on pause 'cause i thought it was a movie, not a series. wanted to rewatch The Cellar/Cloverfield 2 and another short thing or two before i get into another series.

looks good though.

Started The Punisher.. so good. I'm digging it. I am very hopeful for continued brutality and punishment.

I think it suffered from Child Actor Who Can't Act syndrome. Or its close cousin Director That Can't Direct Children-itis. Also, I saw it at a Q&A with the writer of the book who said "people said it's a lot like some zombie videogame [ The Last of Us ]but I don't know what a Super Nint-X-station is so whatever" and like, CLEARLY someone who worked on the art direction/visual effects/whatever had borrowed ideas from it. In some shots, I remember thinking it was like they were walking through the same locations as in the game, plus they're both sort-of zombie stories that try and mix up the themes and endings that are expected from zombie movies.

Watching Hannibal for the first time. It's alright, hope that it can reach the 'Luther' levels of bleak crime fighting shows. :idk:

EDIT:
NSFW: show
Oh, there's mushroom people now.

Curious to know your thoughts. I loved it...but not as a 'crime fighting' show. It's more a 'character drama'. The show excels with longer arcs and the really dumb episodes follow a 'monster of the week' formula. Great acting and superb visuals. Season 3 (The Red Dragon Arc) was my favorite!

I've only seen the first 2 seasons but I loooooved them (get on Netflix third season!!!!). I totally agree sharky it's not a crime fighting show in the usual sense, it's all about the characters and queasy psychological horror. The crime bits are almost incidental to my enjoyment of a lot of it.

It really is amazing that show aired on NBC too. I know TV has a little more leeway on basic cable these days, but they still did so much with (compared to premium networks) so many restrictions. Still have my fingers crossed for a fourth season where the do the 'Silence of the Lambs' arc.
