hurm. i love my AJH. i haven't noticed any pitch drifting. is that because it's still relatively young butts?
Nah I have 3 of them, and they all detune at completely different times, some quite severely. If I use one at a time it's not super noticeable, but when I'm using all 3 it starts to sound like a mess.

On the SQ-1, if you have it working as 2 tracks can you disable steps on just one of the sequences (using active steps) or do they have to reset together all the time ?
And do you sometimes use it as a sort of mini pressure point (with only two CV outs) using step jump ? If so, is it nice to use that way ?

This is cool sounding to me.

What is your set up for taking video? I am really stupid at taking video and only know how to use my phone.

They don't have to reset at the same time & you can totally use it like a Pressure Points in that regard, but it's a little more finnicky than I found the PP to be. Sometimes a slight movement will loosen the pressure enough to let the sequencer start doing its thing again, and AFAIK you can't use step jump without having the sequencer in play mode.

solo tunes:
completed works || loosey goosey releases
associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)

I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

lol. i suh, am also a goof about video. i usually just put my phone in a tripod and aim it at the modules, but this i was... holding my phone. i record the audio into my DAW and sync it after though.

because my phone mic is nooooot great.

I post a lot more videos since grabbing a fairly cheap iRig so I can get good audio while recording from my phone without having to go and sync it and upload it afterwards. I still do my “good” videos by recording to ProTools and syncing later but the iRig has been great for instant good quality without the hassle.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Did you dudes already see this?

Yesss I saw this the other day. I still am not really sure I will go out and purchase it but I'd love to play with it for a bit to try it out since I'll not likely ever be in front of a real easel. I look forward to hearing/seeing some stuff made with it.

In the 2x8 sequencing modes they are independent. They don't have to reset at the same time and changing the steps on one doesn't affect the running of the other. The two sequences will always use the same clock signal, though. & Changing the sequencer mode does reset any sequence to the first step while it's running.

You can actually use it as a mini pressure points, you just need a dummy cable plugged into the sync input to disable the internal clock. It's definitely usable like this, but I have had times where using a step jump has put a tiny bit of pressure on the CV pot and changed it's value, i.e. jumped a semi-tones when using the chromatic quantized mode.

One of my gripes with it is that the range of the CV pots seems limited at the full cw and ccw positions. They need to be moved a bit before a change is registered. For this reason it's not the best to use as a pitch sequencer on its own, but with an external quantizer and as a general gate/CV sequencer it's pretty good. I'm looking to add another one to my setup.

Oh, also the minor scale included on the unit has a major 6th in the scale instead of a minor 6th

Yeah, I don't understand syncing audio and video at all. Just want to take videos with better audio quality... iRig looks rad but I do not have any Apple stuff at the moment.

Wait, it says it can work on Android, too. I'm going to investigate further. Thanks.

Android has built in lag

Just do a test clap at the beginning or say howdy to the camera and mic, then sync to that and hope for the best. Sometimes the frame rate conversion will unsync it later though.

Audacity and imovie has worked well enough...I look at the waves and listen for chorus/delay effects of the two different waves.

Tascam also makes an digital recorder that will sync with a video but still has to be added/combined later...it just keeps the time and start stop the same. It's for film.
