The ER-301 is for menu divers only. Even loading someone else’s preset chain requires that you know your way around the menu system.

Nice Behndy!

While we're on the Orthogonal Devices subject, does anyone have an ER-101/102? I've been looking at sequencers and I keep coming back to it.

I've been going back and forth on several filters for a while now and not being able to decide so decided to just make a choice already and ordered a Three Sisters. Really stoked to try it out! ...... from what i've read though, i really want to try two of them together....

Never used it before but consensus among owners is "best sequencer ever"

I ended up with the ER-301 by lurking around OD’s website waiting for ER-101s to come back up for preorder going back to 2016, it seems really cool, and when I see used units pop up it’s tough to resist. I really like the concept behind assigning arbitrary steps to be part of various groups to then manipulate with operations from the 102. It also seems like it might be a headache to learn and get comfy on. If you get one and don’t like it, make sure to get it in Original Flavor, just in case you end up selling it to me :)

I think at this point I'm somewhere between a Stillson Hammer and ER-101/102. I think the end answer is going to be both because they're very different, but I'm currently looking at a project that involves actual songs and recalling patterns, which (even with sh][ 2.0 out) I think the ER-101 will be better at. But the sh][ I think would be a lot better for improv. I don't really like ithe sh]['s system for recalling saved settings as it almost seems like it would require a different sequencer to do that. With the ER-101/102, I also like the random possibilities and use of math as a way to get generative patching. And my understanding is that it can record CV from other places.

This is not mention that this is all inspired by my purchase of a Frames which I'm really not in love (yet??). I don't like how hard it is to edit steps. Or that you kind of have to fly blind in the different modes. You can't look at it and know what it's doing automatically. It occurred to me that a lot of what it does could easily be done with a powerful sequencer, though not everything. I need to spend less time thinking about modular and just finish school so I can get a real job and buy ALL THE MODULAR!! :snax:

I'm pretty sure either of you could make music with a small keyboard and a few effect pedals - and not even boutique stuff. I know I was almost more productive when my setup looked like that, all these shinies are mostly there to please us and make our brain cells all lively and happy but we don't really need them :).

Also, processing Tim and Eric samples through Rings can lead to interesting moments.

Now, that's something to put in the todo list...
I already have a bank of awesome samples (in my Radio Music) of tele-evangelists explaining the dangers of Scooby-Doo and He-Man toys and one with Tim & Eric stuff but I can see myself adding a Mighty Boosh bank :).

Not liking drums into fuzz would be borderline criminal.
