What are you using sequence the beat? And what's actually making the drum sounds? Akemie's?behndy wrote:also, oh yeah. i think i'm figuring out the SampleSlicer a bit. so FUN.
when the fuzz comes in, the unfuzzed parts are what the SampleSlicer still has in it's buffer and is scrubbing through.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I sort of regret selling mine but if you have a ER-301 it's just redundant to get one of those.
Also, I haven't seen Ginko Synthese restock their DIY kits in a while anywhere so it'd probably be a while to get one of those.

Yeasty Lincoln - the SampleSlicer is just mangling the Rings -> Starry Eyes -> RM-1 melody. the beat is all from Digitakt. whichhhh is way too quiet to run straight into the SSlicer, going to try it with a Rusty Box boosting it today.
Ruiny - thanks meng! it is so GOOD. like what a Freez on all the steroids. DELICIOUS TIMES.
Stanger Butt Tails - jia. Error Instruments has a few assembled ones for sale right now, but they're like €350 i think? banananananas expensive. that's more than half what i paid after shipping and all. OOF.
Gingko Guy said there would be some in a few months but... he's been saying that awhile i think? i am ECSTATIC to have one. ER-301 is more programming than i want to do in a module i think. looks AMAZING though.

Morphagene freakout time:
BEST MODULE. BEST SAMPLER. DREAM GEAR. 100% VICTORY.
Y'all this thing is amazing & I wouldn't trade it away for anything right now. I dream up ideas, sit down to attempt them, and am rewarded in spades EVERY DANG TIME. I did a live set the other night using acoustic guitar and morphagene loaded with acoustic guitar samples, and it was amazing. I spent about 2 minutes in the middle of my set slowly scrubbing through a sample of a diad being played & ringing out, drawing the audience back and forth slowly through this moment/sound event that they hadn't actually experienced. You could feel the tension in the room swell as the bits got closer to the attack/more pick noise-y, and feel the relief when the drone settled in the decay portions of the sample. It felt unreal from a purely academic standpoint, but that was dwarfed by how it felt as a performer to be able to take an audience through that. I don't think everyone 'got' it, but I had a few people come tell me it was unlike any set they'd ever seen.
I also interjected 3 small Morphagene pieces into my band Raab Zamboni's new live album (tracks 2, 4, and 7 are where they're hidden). Peep that if you wanna hear some fun stuffs.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
The booking part is fairly easy for me bc I've been actively involved in the Dallas scene for a few years now & there are several showcases for experimental acts here, and friends are always down to let me weird up their normie bills if I wanna. I'd suggest looking for any weekly/monthly recurring events that are catered towards electronic/experimental music, and start showing up/meeting the people?behndy wrote:that is beauuuuuuuuuutifulllllllllll suh!

Or if you're talking about the actual performance part I'd recommend trying to get a really fun & usable setup going in your smaller case, that you can hook up to yr other one always for more fun times, but having an improv/performance-ready setup helps a lot. I also find that using AllFlesh is a great way to spice up live things and make the synth more tactile/less knob turn-y. Most people don't know what the hell yr doing so as long as it sounds interesting they'll at least be intrigued

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
good stuff.
jia. got some All Spice Flesh Nubs on the way.
i've never done more mellow, unstructured jammy type things. always been playing a set of pre-written songs. so that concept right there is terrifying enough.
never played out with something as random as a modular rig, so that's terrifying.
always been in at least a 2 piece band, so being alone is terrifying.
i don't know anyone in the electro/experimental community out here so meeting new people is..... terrifying.
MAYBE THEY WILL ALL JUST BOUNCE OFF EACH OTHER INTO A NON TERRIFIED CONFIDENCE INSPIRING ZEITGEIST OF HAPPINESS.

That sounds awesome! I’ve been heavily exploring mine lately and now that I’m understanding it much more than just dumping stuff in and turning knobs it’s just incredible. It was the main focus of that last song I posted and I’m sure many more to come. Amazing module.baremountain wrote:Morphagene freakout time:
