Could I use the Mother 32 with cased euros later on? Like to drive them? If so, I’ll look into that.
I was really wanting to do diy because of the money savings though. I dunno the Dreadbox stuff is cool. Just need something to trigger it with right? Like a sequencer.

Yeah, a keyboard or a sequencer or something that does both like the keystep/beatstep.
I'm not sure what you mean by driving other modules, but you could definitely use other modules with the Mother 32. But really, read up on it/watch youtube shit before you dive in. Maybe just get a regular hardwired synth to begin with. You'd most likely be able to a lot of the stuff you want with it. I know modular is the cool thing right now, but I bet that the majority of the synth elements in music you like wasn't made on a modular.

And while Trent has utilized modular synths in recent times, the early stuff wasn't made on modular systems.
But whatever, get into modular if that's what you want, just make sure you know why you're choosing modular over other "regular" synths is what I'm saying.

Ordered Sunday, called last night. Shipped today. No tracking updates available. They’re great because of their inventory. Detroit Modular is great because of their shipping and service. They let me play with their system for maybe two hours last time I was there.Dandolin wrote:quoted for lordgalvarlordgalvar wrote:Just email Perfect Circuit. They've actually emailed me after a bit asking if I wanted to keep my backorder order active. They've been pretty good over email when i was shipped a broken koma pedal.

Yea, I know he used a lot of cheap drum machines and shit like that. I dig all their stuff. I am looking for something to create textural backgrounds so I can make my own music.actual wrote:And while Trent has utilized modular synths in recent times, the early stuff wasn't made on modular systems.
Bass beats, atmospheric noise...just all kinds of odd sounds. I know modular won't be the end all, be all for anything but I'd like to implement it a tiny bit to see if it's something that will help me create.

Dont look to do DIY as a cost saving measure, it isn't. It's just another avenue to throw $$$ away.Jesus Was a Robot wrote:Could I use the Mother 32 with cased euros later on? Like to drive them? If so, I’ll look into that.

You could also look at things like the Waldorf Blodfeld, for example. Polyphonic wavetable rules for ambient textural stuff.Jesus Was a Robot wrote:Yea, I know he used a lot of cheap drum machines and shit like that. I dig all their stuff. Blofeld example (but there are many other synths that could suit your needs) :

It would take a big/expensive euro system to get this kind of results.
And modular is more about how you get to the sound rather than the sound itself for me, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Still trying to figure out what my best option is for my rack. Never even heard of Four Bricks Rook before this.

The Blofeld is super tite. Plus they show up on Clist for usually around $350 from time to time (and of course Reverb, I'm sure).oscillateur wrote:You could also look at things like the Waldorf Blodfeld, for example. Got my Function in, this thing is coooool. I need to do some more reading on the hang input, looks like it could be really interesting, and if I'm not mistaken, it's about the only thing that Function has that Maths does not.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I thought about using logic outputs to trigger envelopes for modulation purposes, but since I got the Bool2 I've found that method is pretty abstract to predict rhythms and achieve pleasing results. However, I was just using logic gates to modulate the decay on envelopes trigger by a step sequencer, and the juxtaposition of rhythms that way is wonderful.
Modulating modulation
Not being able to wrap my head around patching can be super frustrating sometimes, but when it all clicks it's so rewarding.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
just got the Error Instruments Evil Drum Oscillator in. INTERESTING. makes some angry, disgusting noises. and it has a (i think vactoral?) gate so you can move it from different tapered ending drum hits to a constant oscillator.
...... i think i would LOVE it if it had CV control over everything. or. any CV at all.
but. neat sounds.
also, selling an OP-1 and some modulesssssssssss -
