Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Thanks. Those are higher priced than I thought! lol
So, there's no cheap ass way to start? Like a single euro or two that would be good?
I could make the panels pretty easily with veneer wood as well or acrylic. I just need to make or be provided drill templates.

What do you mean by a single euro?
Even if you want a barebones synth that's going to be:
(at minimum) 1 oscillator
ADSR
VCA
Filter
LFO (1 with multiple outputs or more)
S&H
Noise generator
Some way to play it (sequencer, keyboard)
Power Supply
Case
I'll ask the same question that I ask everyone else: What are you trying to get out of eurorack?

The price tag on the Hades is pretty cheap for an entire voice imo.
Edit: it's through hole.

Ha! Man, I didn't realize there were so many sly dealings up in the cable gameoscillateur wrote:I think Black Market Modular designed their cables and got a Chinese company to make them (excellent design, btw) and that company asked other manufacturers if they were interested in getting the same product with a different logo and colours.behndy wrote:see, i'm kinda.... offended at the LMNTL's. they COMPLETELY ripped of Black Market Modular. they're basically.... identical. colors too.
i think Analogue Haven carries BMM.
I have some Erica Synths cables that are basically that (in white and light blue). I got the first few as a bonus with modules I bought from them at Tokyo Festival of Modular last year and then got some more when I ordered a module from them. I would have gotten the BMM ones instead if I had the choice but shipping is a PITA for me...
Also Jwar—get a 0-Coast, man! Everybody's doing it! I'll sell you mine
EDIT: I should elaborate a little bit on that. I know other people will have a good bit more to say, but ST is right in saying that you'll need quite a few modules to get even a basic start. That's why I think some kind of semi-modular/complete voice kind of thing would be good to start. My first shot at it was the Pittsburgh Black Box, but I sent it back... I dunno, just didn't mesh well with it, found it a bit boring. The 0-Coast is rad because Make Noise stuff in general is kinda fucked up and weird, which I found a bit more intriguing/inviting. Those two avenues couldn't have felt more different for me.
People also love the Mother 32. The Intellijel Atlantis is also a pretty badass complete voice module, but it's expensive and would also need a case of some kind.

Mostly something to explore and have fun with. I sold my Folktek Mescaline because I didn’t like how uncontrollable it was for me. So I was looking for something more intuitive.

Ditto what popvulture said above especially since you're coming down from the Mescaline (pun 100% intended).Jesus Was a Robot wrote:A boner?Strange Tales wrote:What do you mean by a single euro?

A semi-modular voice (that is more intuitive than the Mescaline) is a good way to get into modular. Mother 32 is a straight forward subtractive synthesis voice, No-Coast is a much more unique voice with less emphasis on standard synthesis, or if you want to go the DIY route, those listed by ST would be a good place to start.

Does anyone use a sequencer/phrase recorder/idk what else you would call this that allows for heavily unquantized drums? If it can also do quantized, great, but I'm looking for something I can use instead of using my Analog Rytm for drums. Think some FlyLo Zodiac Shit style of drums. I'm getting a little sick of the x0x style sequencing, but the Rytm might just be the smartest option out there.
but maybe something like the antimatter launch codes or brain seed, probably brain seed, have the input clock go really fast and just use something to tap in your gates/triggers for it to record, the fast input clock will make it unquantized enough.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Run any recorded phrase through a comparator (like a click track on a wav or even like a cassette loop).
Radio music + any comparator? Click turn into +5 triggers/gates.
Or use the same trick with like a phonogene kinda sampler thing if you don't want to pre record...just tap in clicks from one shot triggering maths or rampage or something.
Delptronics triggerman might be cool too, just keep messing with the clock (like two looping rampage lfos)

If it's backordered, can't you cancel? I'd imagine so...worra wrote:God DAMMIT I already ordered one from PCA but it's backorderedbehndy wrote:heyyyyy i have a Brain Seed i'm going to list if you're interested!vidret wrote:flylo zodiac shit didn't sound heavily unquantized though?Muse FTW wrote:Back with another Q. Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
why does PCA take so long to ship? i ordered my Sapel two days ago, relatively early in the day Detroit Modular would had shipped same day.
love those guys.
PCA seems like good people too, but them and Analogue Haven being in Cali fucks me on tax, and i have a friendly relationship with the DetMod peoples, so i only order somewhere else if they're out of it.

They take forever, and even once it's marked "shipped" the status sits at "pending acceptance" for a few days, grrrrr.behndy wrote:why does PCA take so long to ship? i ordered my Sapel two days ago, relatively early in the day Detroit Modular would had shipped same day.

I don't see an option on my order page to cancel the ordered items, I probably have to call them.

Just email Perfect Circuit. They've actually emailed me after a bit asking if I wanted to keep my backorder order active. They've been pretty good over email when i was shipped a broken koma pedal.
