No, at best that is a chicken v egg thought exercise; specialized electrical components had to be engineered & realized before the experimentation in circuit design could gain traction. It is true that after 100+ years of semiconductors most analog audio electronics are clones descending from the many millions of dollars and tens of thousands of hours spent by Bell Labs/Western Electric/RCA/Marconi/Mullard BVA/Telefunken etc.

FME people who defensively say "everything is a clone" re: pedals trend as either 1) sketchy pedal builders 2) sketchy pedal buying fanboys.

FWIW I enjoy oem and clones, not so much charlatans where the above sketchiness form a union.
