Wow, that is awesome. It seems like the bitcrushing buttons each have a different character. Some seem to let frequencies through, like higher sounds from a hi hat, and some just obliterate in the best way. This video is cool, wish I had a scope:

Yeah each pad is a portion of the wave, but it's too complicated for a small guitar player like me. So I just mess around.
I'll check out the vid, funny he is italian as well. He is very known online here for his knowledge and reviews\lessons of electronic music gear.

As I wrote in the meris ottobit jt thread, the oto has volume for the dry and the wet sound, it's essential imho in a crusher. I love its sounds and possibilities
it has a wonderful sample rate reduction, again the filters are awesome.
It's indeed a deep pedal with a steep learning curve, Fx are cool but infact they take a little of brain memory to use it. I love the filter sequencer the most.

So, since Hexe is more or less unobtanium, what should I be investigating for pretty, "clean" SRR artifacts? Frantabit seems a bit too gnarly and Scrutator/Bitmap demos sound kinda flat to me in that department (though maybe they're more workable in person?). Ottobit Jr?

Of the ones I’ve tried, the Ottobit was by far the cleanest. Scrutator, bitquest, Geiger counter, frantabit.

I spent a lot of time A/Bing my Hexe III against my Geiger counter tonight. I feel like the GC can really fuck shit up more, and the wavetable gives it the win in terms of pure feature depth, but there's something a little more usable about the hexe, and I dig the controls more. I use the LFO as well, so I think that's winning for me. GC for sale, I suppose. I also have a mtl asm wrong side of Uranus, which has some rad sounds, but is a little light in the parameter control department.

Context, I'm using them mostly with a drumbrute, sometimes w/ a sub 37.

Thanks in large part to the subliminal influence of this thread, I have a Red Panda Bitmap purchased from the Pro Guitar Shop liquidation sale inbound. It seemed like an ideal way to celebrate the exodus from my current hell job and transition into what will, hopefully, prove to be a more functional workplace.

I can post more about A/B/C tests with a WMD Geiger Counter and Malekko Scrutator using guitars and pseudo synths if anyone is interested.

So my industrial-ish band is starting back up, so I obviously need a bitcrusher. I've previously owned a Hexe, Geiger, Antenna, Heliotrope, Sonic Alienator, and a Bitrman. Most of those are unobtanium now (really wish I had kept a couple of them). What's the new flavor of the year since I've been out of it awhile? That Ottobit looks interesting, any other newbies that are cool?

It's apparently pretty brutal, but that can only be good. And it's voiced for bass.

Heliotrope is a piece of shit because of the constant carrier noise.

Bug crusher only does SRR, but it is super legit.
If only the jacks weren't mounted in that ridiculous position that would be an instant buy for me.

Tim seems to be always upgrading his enclosures. Maybe you can convince him to go with top jacks on the next one?

Also, just looked at the Fredric website and found this quote in the pedal description:

i looooooveeed the BugCrusher i had. favorite SRR (which is really the part of bit crushing that sounds good to me on bassins) i ever had.
