Hard to find these, even here in Canada, and the prices keep going up but boy are they good.ognoy wrote:Traynor TS-series
Also finally got round to trying a Bassbreaker, the hype is true, they're spectacular and I'm tempted to sell my Verellen for one. The modern conveniences of the Bassbreaker are really, really helpful as well.

Fender Super Champ X2 hybrid combo. Channel 1, the non-modeling channel, is sweet, makes a good pedal platform, and can get loud if necessary.

I have mixed opinions on this.worra wrote:If you wanna go the tube route, can't beat a silverface Champ
While I love mine, I always miss that punch a 12" speaker delivers. But it is awesome for 50s rock & roll!

Re: Practice amp recommendations
is there a big difference at bedroom volumes? I love my 1x12 combo for when I want to play loud but I don't really get punchy when I attenuate it to bedroom volumes. Practice volume could be a lot louder than what I'm playing at tho. I'm talking like tv volume.

At that volume the only thing you will miss is that "oomph".megamaeng wrote:is there a big difference at bedroom volumes? Re: Practice amp recommendations
I’ve got a Supro Bantam that a buddy rewired and fixed up to be more of a 1606 (like a silverface champ with a bit more umph, sort of)
Here’s a thread he made detailing everything he did: http://www.tdpri.com/threads/supro-bant ... on.563667/
It’s amazing and perfect for bedroom playing.
This is definitely not an amp, but you might also consider a Neunaber Iconoclast and some headphones. Those are legit.

I have an Orange 35RT that I really enjoy for headphones and I always travel with a Blackstar Fly 3 which sounds great at tv volumes. Both are wife approved and have yet to wake the kids.

The old orange Roland Cubes are pretty great - I have the 20 and 40 watt ones and sometimes run them in stereo.
First time I’m hearing about the Traynor TS series but I’m reading good things about them - is a TS15 for $75 worth pursuing?

Is that the one with 2 8"s?
I got a TS-25 and I love it.
I don't keep it at home anymore though, cause it rocks out in the rehearsal space.
Used it live a couple of times as well.

Controversially, am highly considering a Laney IRT-Pulse. Briefly tested one out with a Rat and worked pretty well. All Tube, Compact, FX Loop and can just play through my PC (like I have been doing) and has pretty good cleans & reverb.
I genuinely don't need much, but seems like the ideal best of both worlds type of thing.
