Suppose your right. I honestly don't have much more to say about the muff than what I did when I first got it.

Its really good, and the price is right. Get it if you can.

still putting off getting one. made the mistake of buying too many superfluous pedals back in august and september and now i have a bunch of debts due to some unforseen and unavoidable expenses. probably wouldn't even up using it ever anyways :sigh:

That's the spirit!

I'm tempted, especially hearing Andy's demo. But I bought the Swollen Pickle right when they came out earlier this year and that pedal just does it for me. Plus the Way Huge enclosures are much sturdier than the EHX ones.

Now I'm GASing for the pedal. :(

And there weren't any cornball blues licks in the demo. :thumb:

I vaguely recall posting I might check it out on page 4, but upon reviewing this thread I doubt I would ever actually do it. I’ve been grooving after a Russian Muff for a while but I’d rather shell out a little more for a W&C than buy something I’ll be flipping in 6 months.

My Blackascan is awesome and a nice variant of a Russian variant.

I don't think it's worth it at all.

I've owned several Wren and Cuff boxes. "owned". Meaning, I no longer own them. They aren't unique and I cannot fathom why anyone would spend that much on straight up clones. Dude is cool like I said before, but he's also been known to be a douche bag. Like the time he was ignoring Excane about his fucked up pedals.

I'm actually happy to see EHX sticking it to the cloners like this. They wouldn't be worried if they made something innovative. They are worried because they know it's the same shit in a different package.

Also, I think Matt is a member here. So, he might chime in with a pissy comment. ;)

Let me quote Big Chief from 2012.

"The thing is, as much as guys like to split hairs between the different versions of Big Muff, it's still a Big Muff. The differences from version to version may be scrutinized until the end of time, but they are infinitesimal compared to the difference between any of them and any other type of fuzz. The most different one I ever heard was the IC Muff, which is probably why it's my favorite. But it's all an argument over retardedly similar shades of Muff".
"I do not have the ability to think rationally 90% of the time and I also change my mind at the drop of a hat".

I see your point if its all you believe that W&C is nothing more than a dirty cheap clone company. IMO they are not. I don't think Matt is worried either and W&C do make other pedals that are innovative in my eyes and uses. The Phat Phuk B, Mercy Phuk, and Gold Comp are pedals I own from W&C that aren't clones of anything and are IMO fantastic pedals, especially for live use. I also would like to try the Sonder, Ace octave fuzz, and the Suppa Phat Phuk.

I have tried many big muff style fuzz pedals from all the known builders from Earthbound to Stomp Under and everything in between. I landed on W&C for muff style because the pedals just seem to mesh well with my gear and band, its a win win for me, plus I've had mechanical issues with a few of the other builders but none from W&C so far.

I bought the reissue russian from EHX and it sounded good, I A/B'd it with my Elephant Skin when at rehearsals and came to the conclusion that the ES sounded better in my situation and so did my bandmates. Ears made the choice, plus the ES has an awesome boost that I like to use with other fuzzes.

Its all a matter of opinion, you have yours and I have mine. Neither is right or wrong but I find W&C to work well with my gear and band and I don't think they are just another big muff clone company and I do think its worth it to shell out a few more bucks for quality.

Doesn’t seem like he’s talking about all of W&C’s pedals as a whole, just the muff clones. And if you prefer theirs, fine, but it’s still a clone and there is nothing innovative about it. They advertise it as a straight up clone so I don’t understand a need to defend them. After hearing one in person I had considered buying one but now with a legit EHX reissue I’d rather spend half the money. That’s something I don’t understand about the pedal community. I get boutique clones of pedals that are no longer available but when someone sells a clone of a pedal that’s still available for a cost higher than the actual pedal there’s no appeal for me i.e. tube screamer clones or way overpriced muff clones. Just my rambling opinion. Would probably make more sense if I wasn’t typing it on my phone haha

Are they, though?
I have trouble believing that when he sands the IC's and transistors to hide their values on all/most of his pedals (which is one of the most common ways to hide the fact that a pedal is a clone, by the way).

Clones other people's pedals, sands down parts in own pedals. Sure sounds like a cool guy.
