I missed this, sorry. I don't always 'like' Refn's films but I'm glad he's out there making them. ONLY GOD FORGIVES is a masterpiece so I kind of hold him to a higher standard. I don't think it was a 'tough guy' role so much as a nefarious jerk. Keanu is usually tough in his movies but more stoic whereas in NEON his character was the most abrasive and brash role I've seen him in. I had no qualm with the actors in that film, the story telling just became moronic (which would not have been a problem had they held on to a cohesive visual element).
Speaking of the desert and Keanu, did you see THE BAD BATCH yet?
