Silly post, that I agree with except for "musical gear world in the toilet" bit.
There has never been more great AND affordable gear. There are multiple options for every gear desire. Synth systems that only universities and major label studios could consider having, have now entered the homes of our poor ass's.
The issue I have with the "musical gear world" is the video world. Can't say I've watched a PGS video within the past 3+years. Can't thing of a pedal demo person who's made me want to buy a pedal. And don't even get me started on the trade show videos. We've entered a time where boutique builders are making attempts at stardom and many are now trying to fit in innapropriate "rig rundown" type videos. Reverb's trade show videos are the worst. Reverb's Syntax Error trade show vid was probably the most uncomfortable video I've seen since seeing some of that Elmo documentary that made me swear that dude was a pedo, only to find out 6 months later I was right.
Despite rejecting the claim that the equipment world is in the toilet, I would strongly support the claim that the equipment industry's Web presence has already been flushed.
Cool post that made me realize I needed to clarify my "toilet" comment. What I meant by that is that no one is buying shit nowadays. Everyone talks smack about how they gotta have this or that, but given how many used pedals are sitting unsold for months at a time, I can;t imagine how bad it is in the retail world, especially for boutique builders. Purely economics. You are right that there has never been a time with cooler gear. I just don't know who's buying it with the frequency to keep these guys in business.
Thanks for clarifying, I completely agree. There's definitely a demand, but supply is increasingly surpassing. The whole industry relies on the tiniest incremental improvement to nullify every predecessor. Without sounding like the ego is strong with me, it's a dangerous mindset that I really need to remove myself from, as well as so much of the toxic forum talk around gear. Don't want to derail the thread though, but I love this topic.

I was so close to saying this, but I honestly didn't know if Prymaxe was still open or not

You only have three posts on this site. I don’t think your opinion is one we (meaning) I care about much. Thanks for sharing though! Hope you never have a business go under!
"I do not have the ability to think rationally 90% of the time and I also change my mind at the drop of a hat".
I don't see how anybody can dis Prymaxe. No other retailer has ever been so cool with me giving discounts to stuff usually "excluded" from sales as well as fast free shipping and amazingly quick responses to emails. I love Prymaxe and use them first when I am buying new. In fact, I just got a morley power fuzz wah from them at discount (Morley is usually excluded from sales) and they sent me the upgraded chrome version which is $80 more than the regular one. So I got a $225 pedal for $130 shipped free. I got a green russian EH the day they came out from Prymaxe again with a 20 percent discount and free shipping. Prymaxe rules!

Sounds great man. Now I'm up to five, but thanks for letting me know how little you care about my opinion. It really doesn't mean a lot to me.

So.... you come to a forum owned and maintained by small builders, with a community that’s almost violently dedicated to those builders, and you wonder why we don’t like a shop that’s consistently bad for small builders?

You're ascribing to me an intent I simply didn't or don't have. I know nothing about the origin of this forum or the violent dedications of said members. I thought it was another spot to talk about gear. Anyhow, I'd love to hear exactly why Prymaxe is bad for small builders. Seriously, I'm ignorant of the issue and am genuinely interested. All I know is as a buyer I love deals, good friendly staff and fast free shipping.
