I am a total n00b.
I have an old DS-1 that stopped working years ago, and has been lying around, and in boxes for years. I bought a Behringer Ultra Fuzz with the intention to mod the board and put it in a custom enclosure. Then today, I had the idea to merge the two. I am going to use the Boss enclosure, and the Behringer circuitry, but modified, to sound better. I will spray the enclosure black, since my dad has some spray paint at the moment, and I will use the DS-1 knobs, temporarily, until I buy some different ones.
So, what I want to do with the Behringer circuit, is simple, to you guys I'm sure. First of all, it needs an output boost. I've read I can insert two new diodes to do this, but I can't find a schematic of the Ultra Fuzz so far. I'd also like to increase the bass and treble outputs of the pedal, just to start with, as a beginner. Any new mods can be done at a later date as I learn and get into this more.
So, what do you all think? What advice can you give me for this project, which I hope to start tomorrow, when my dad lets me borrow his soldering iron. I am going to start by attaching the DS-1 input and output components to the Behringer board, firstly removing the Behringer design of those.
I'm looking forward to replies. Thanks.
