Recording Big Muffs (new W&C appreciation thread perhaps)

TBH, boost the input with a tube screamer.

Mmmmm problem is not exactly mids, or lack of a tight sound, what I'm having a problem with is to capture that muff sound that my ears can detect but my mics can't, kind of like the problem with recording reverb, but that can be solved with reamping, adding reverb from VSTs or adding a room mic.

I'll order that cheap condenser and will follow everybody's suggestions here.

Something that could be sorta fun, would be if you could post a recording here, and some of us see what we could do with it.

You might like a ribbon mic, they generally have a smooth top end and pick up a lot of "whumpf" which to me is a big part of the muff feel.
