There's a real lack of options in this category I find. It's either a big knob, treadle, or the coolest mass produced kind is maybe zvex's probe but I don't think you can get that by itself. Yeah, what about joysticks, faders, and infrared?
I was reminded of this demo vid with a homemade crossfader exp pedal.. maybe you can msg the fella. Let us know what you end up finding!

Re: Joystick or fader controlled EXP?
Hall effect is an induced pulse from a magnetic or ferrous point moving past a sensor, it essentially operates on the same physics as a standard guitar pick-up, but is a more controlled system. With a pair or more of hall effect sensors you can get pulses that indicate direction and position, in pretty much the same manner as an optical encoder.John wrote:Can you explain what you mean by hall effect and rolling digital?

There's the money shot. I'm not 100% certain those are inductive pickups, they might be limit switches. I would also expect a hall effect to have notches cut in the steel, though I suppose there could be embedded magnets that trigger... those parts don't look to have been hooked up to anything (I'm used to seeing solder on that type of stud, though there might be a clamp type connector that makes me wrong here).
The code aspect would essentially be two encoders. Though I'm not the person to ask about code right now, I'm in the dangerous curve where I see what it can do and don't have the chops to make that happen... and I'm probably wrong about half the time.
Ultimately, it looks like you can access both ends of each gimbal axis, which is nice. Solid build that,

Re: Joystick or fader controlled EXP?
thanks for the info! I messaged the seller to see if they can tell me what the values are.
I think I'm going to get a joystick or two and build some controllers. As far as I can tell, that Devi mangler thing is the closest thing so far (and could be used for EXP purposes with a couple of breakout cables) and I'm sure I can get all the necessary parts for much less. I need pots in the realm of 50K for the pedals I wanna use them with, and that's not the most common thing for these type items, but I shall keep you all posted on any progress I may make!

That would be a kick ass platform. Removing those springs will eliminate the return to center on the joystick.
