Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Yeah, I've been looking at the Chronoblob. I have 22hp left. I really want a small stereo mixer an more utilities.
The Xerest Pola is a 6hp, 3 channel mixer with mutes, stereo out, and headphone jack. Simple and small.
Extra Mullet is 6 hp and looks like a cool mult that can mix signals of the 4 inputs.
SSF Tool Box, 6hp because utilities.
But, Erica has a new panning mixer 14 hp. 4 channel, 1 of those channels is stereo. CV panning for only channel 3, headphone amp with master and headphone volume. 1/4" outs.
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/erica-syn ... module-v2-
So if I went that rout I could still get the Extra Mullet and Tool Box, but I would have to get rid of the Optomix in favor of an LXD. Or a Scan and Pan instead. But I would really enjoy having a headphone amp. Which I could still fit one in my 1U.
Or I could do Xerest, Tool Box and Chronoblob. But as I do have two effects loop to work with in my rig.
Or Extra Mullet, Tool Box and maybe one of those 10hp Rebel Technology Mixers.
Still a lot of things to think about.

Yeah I looked at the features and was like "want", then their demo left me a bit cold. I only jumped around and assumed they got into some better sounds at some point because how can it not but maybe I'm wrong and it's just all bad somehow.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I have a Scarlett 18i20 and I love it. I use the expander inputs and outputs to connect directly to my modular via Expert Sleepers ES-3 and ES-6 (8 outputs, 6 inputs) and it works really well. I can record everything in multitracks and still have the 8 inputs for other instruments.behndy wrote:have you looked at Warps? with the Parasite loaded it does INTERESTING. THINGS.
sigh. yeah. my "backup" audio interface is fried. or something. can't get it to work. meh. weekend to fuck with bass noodlins.
also, i am torn. Focusrite that's on the way should be tasty with modulars. pads on inputs, supposed to not peak even without them. gooooood.
but i kind of want to grab a Zoom L12, and if it can handle modular levels without attenuation, send back the Focusrite. it sucks that the L12 records pre faders like the K-Mix, but it DOES record multi track post fader to the sd card recorder. sooooo.... the times i want to record jams/ideas that incorporate fading and muting i would have to take an extra step, but still have the option.
plus, 12 inputs mo bettah than 8.
and this would let me NOT grab a pair of Pragas, leaving me 40 extra hp to grab a TipTop Zed 8000, a dedicated quantizer for it, and have a little extra for SUMPHIN.
i.... think that's how i want to roll?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
The demo made it seem like the module excels at metallic hits in an interesting granularized fashion. That's what I'm into it for. METAL. I've got both the Taiko and BIA and think this guy will make a perfect companion for them. I'll find out in a few days as I've ordered one.vidret wrote:So i'm hoping some more demos does it justice, because the demo that was up just seemed thin as duck, and I see no reason whatsoever to get that over the akemis taiko or noise engineering BIA.mr. sound boy king wrote:This comes out tomorrow and I am excite.
For me, it will go directly into the rack. Then the rack is completely full and I'll have to decide if all the pieces should stay in the rack. One piece which is not staying in the rack is the BASTL ABC which has a broken channel A (volume knob no work). I don't know how to fix a module.
But it looks cool and seems to have all the options, so hopefully the demo was just poo.
NB: I got into Eurorack to build out a hot rod drum machine / groove box so flavors of drum modules are my main jam.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Yeah, no way is Chimera getting close to Taiko or BIA in terms of versatility. But as a hyper-modulatable hi hat / rim shot / metal hit machine I think it'll stick out and rule hard.vidret wrote:sure, i get that if that's your flavor then it does seem to have a lot of it.
it was just weird seeing an entire demo of what i thought was going to rival the BIA in sounds and it felt like the same, the entire time
I'm getting one drum module at most, and that needs to do some voice stuff too, so BIA might be in my future.
Mainly just waiting for the manis iteritas to come out so that can get a better demo too
If I had only one drum module, it'd be the Taiko. It can do anything and often inspires by the insane sounds it can spit out. BIA is a bit more straightforward (!) and has a less full sound to my ears. I guess I've never pulled a gut-rattling kick out of the Taiko, come to think of it, but it can get low down.

yeah, the 18i20 looks PIMP. and that is awesommmmee that you can do that extra input MAGIC.
I did order one, i'm kinda annoyed at Sweetwater because they assured me it would be here by Monday, tracking says Wednesday.
so.... ordered a Zoom L12 off of Amazon, will be here Sunday. looks like EXACTLY what i wanted out of the K-Mix with more input and some other neat stuff like 5 assignable headphone outs, some probably shit onboard effects, record to SD card and over USB at the same time.
so if i DO ever get it up enough to play out, would be able to get a good live capture.
i have EXCITEMENT.

I wish Perfect Circuit would ship my pre-ordered Plonk. I emailed them saying hey, "don't you forget about me."

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Sweetwater has been all over the place with their delivery dates. I preordered the Octatrack MK2 (never had MK1) and they told me late October, but it just shipped! Then today I call them to see about when the Analog Four MK2 would be shipping and they told me mid-January, so I put my pre-order in anyway and they called me this afternoon to tell me it'll probably ship in a week or two.behndy wrote:Muse Hates Muse -

I'm not complaining about this at all - but they tend to be generous with their expectations and deliver much faster. My last mic pair came 3 days earlier than the initial shipping estimate.
Also unrelated to that, I've finally had time to really play with the JOVE System 80 filter, and this thing is incredible. The Mylar video sold me on it, obviously, but if you haven't watched that yet go watch it. It's fucking awesome. Maybe my favorite sounding filter I have.

That looks very similar to the Intellijel Rubicon. I never dug deep enough into the Rubicon when I had it, but it was a pretty great sounding oscillatoryeatsvisitslincoln wrote:https://instagram.com/p/BaMLfnaHomt/

Quadra, Wogglebug, Malgorithm and Keystep just got here, but i can't hearrrr anything until Zoomer gets here Sunday. woot.
gots the expander for the Quadra, a replacement v2 SCM Breakout and Varigate 8 headed in a bit too.
going to grab a v2 of the SCM main module next week, so like. if anyone wants a cheap SCM with Breakout, doesn't care that they're v1 and some cosmetic damage, hit me up.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
uScale, Wogglebug, Tempi, and Peaks are in!!
Spent 4 hours tweaking the patch I've been dreaming up with the Tempi + Just Friends earlier. It did not disappoint. I might edit down some audio and try to share.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Spent hours dreaming up a "finished" synth setup. Quite like the idea of this: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/527582 with a beatstep pro, hardware cv controller and separate keyboard polysynth...
