I think the EH Mig 50 is essentially a version of a Fender Bassman though, as far I understand.
No, the one you are talking about is the 5F6-A.
Yeah the Sovtek Mig 50 schematic is nearly identical to the 5F6-A, with it's 3 gain stages and almost all the same values in the PI and NFB. Really PI and power amp section is hard to go wrong with. Later Bassman's did tonestack then volume, rather than volume then tonestack. I like them all though.

I think a lot of dudes are equating "Doom" to "Bone/ass crushing volume".. which is why you see everyone wanting these Marshall Major's and amps like Model T's that fit the bill. 2x50 watt heads with a 4x12 each will equally destroy your hearing and most likely cause spontaneous defecation to the unprepared.

That being said, I want to crank 2 amps and lay waste.. who doesn't? Marty McFly got it right

Yeah, I mean I love loud shit as much as the next guy, but it seems like a lot of "doom" bands think all you need is a wall of cabs and you can get away with not having any decent songs.

The world already has one jucifer lol. I mean they have some cool album tracks but live shit is just like "ow. Ow. Seriously guys. You're hurting me and I have no idea what you're playing. Is this an intro? How long has this been going on? Am i peeing?

Also get ready to be suuuuper bummed when you drag your massive rig up on stage and the sound guy just keeps going "turn it down. Turn it down. Keep going. Little more."

6 power tubes, 6 12" speakers, 6 beers makes the sixpack
I just have a regular ole Fender aby right now, I know nothing about running stereo. This will be my first aby setup. My MIG 50 basically has no gain until the volume is past 5, then it's a 70s rock tone, so I have to throw some fuzz on it to doom out completely. So I guess a bit of both at the moment.

Also for you other guys, I care not for preconceived notions of doom players. I also stated I wanted to be able to do drone, which doesn't require a band or any sound limitations anyway. I live in a very conservative rural area so doom musicians aren't exactly growing on trees here.

Hey fella don't get me wrong. We're not clowning on Doom and if you want 36x12's and 8000 watts of heads that's totally cool. I think we're all just adding in our flavoured commentary from having gone on the power quest ourselves.

It's totally legitimate to want a huge setup with big power. I've been contributing to what I think is a good doom rig. That being said if your Mig 50 isn't breaking up till past 5.. you gotta do something else there, maybe a different PI tube. I like the 12AT7 in my Bassman and I get early breakup.

I'd look for a line6 Spider iii, or Spider ii. In that order probably. Insane mode sounds pretty much like Vol. 4.
Combo is nice and portable, you can get a 1x12 extension cab if you need.

Amp worship fan here I would still go peavey if I wanted loads of amps. They have a tiny power amp that is stupid powerful, get a good pre and you're golden

As for amps, MusicMan (HD 130, 150) stuff is great for pedals, has 2 channels, and they can take two 4 ohm loads, which can add up to a lot of cabs/speakers.
Also, yes, peavey power amps, classic series for example are great and cheap.

As for cabs, and droning, keep all your 12" on A, get a bigass folded horn 18" bass cab like the Acoustic 301 for B, replace the Fender ABY with a Meatbox (or Density Hulk) and step on that for bone crushing subs on B, while shredding on A.
Your'e going to have both amps on all time anyway, or do you really want to switch from A to B?

And take all your low end out. :yay: What is your bass player using?

I'm cheap so I would go Peavey. But I don't know if you are using pedals or just all amp.
