Fun Pedals?

Post by CarlGene »

Currently I'm at this really rough patch in my life, and am in the need of a new pedal that can entertain me for hours and can keep my mind occupied. Mostly, my pedalboard is reverb, muff, and fuzz pedals, but really want to get something new that I'm not used to. What are some fun / different guitar pedals to check out that have multiple uses, or are different than what I currently own? I play shoegaze / doom if that helps.

Pedalboard for reference:

Count To 5.

Nothing more fun. MANY uses.

You'll find a way to shoegaze with it if you try.

Or get something droney, like an EHX Superego.

I've never had more fun picking around with a pedal for hours on end than with a Wizard of Pitch. Similar to the Count to 5, or at least I think it is.

Droney stuff for sure. And a cheap delay to go with it. You'll never look back.

Ct5 would be fun. Maybe look at a Rainbow Machine too if you're into that flavour. Pitch Benders are rad in general.

But I'm going to say Noise Ensemble.
good deals are here.

Are there any synth pedals worth checking out? Really looking at a 150-200 (new or used) price range. Or any straight multi effects units? Has anyone tried the superego+?

Eventide Pitchfactor. So many uses. Can be a delay or a whammy or a thousand other things. A crucial pedal!

I plan on getting that superego+. It looks tits. Let's be real though. All pedals are fun. I've honestly not really found one i didn't have at least a little fun with. Lately I have been jamming that damn Boneshaker, it takes my playing back to old-school. I don't even use reverb or delay with it lately. Then sometimes I'll have 3 delays and 2 reverbs with a tremolo or two as well. It's all fun

The Grazer will be $225, and I think it could give you some synth-like textures. That projects to be a fun pedal. Based on personal use, I would recommend a used Particle. That's one of the most unique pedals available.

I wasn't impressed by the Synth9 demos online, but I do own the Mel9. I'm not sure Mellotrons suit your aspirations though. If you're looking for synth sounds, you might also check into the Dedalo Byte.

If you want more shoegaze sounds on a budget, you can't go wrong with the MS-70CDR.
