I use the fewtility one to downmix the three channels to mono, when running through the shake shack. The actual guitar has a standard quarter inch jack and a standard toggle between the three neck pickups and a tele sized p90 bridge

What do these sound like with the gain down? I didn't find many demos with really low gain settings.

I'm wondering whether this can replace my little Klone pedal (which doesn't play well on a daisy chain..) for that Tele twang lead sound and boosting other pedals, plus being able to dial in that EQ!

Edit: am I wrong in the assumption I had that this is just the DOD-mass-produced version of the Black Forest? I may have just been assuming they were the same from the controls...

Personally, I'm not really crazy about the gain control. It has a very steep taper (so most of the gain is at the end of the sweep).
However, it sounds great if you use your guitar's volume to control the gain.
Also, doing the "cap mod" to the depth control (where you flip two of the caps so that the adjustment is a lot more noticeable) is a really nice way of adjusting the gain, too.

Yeah, they're not even remotely related.
The Black Forest is a Colorsound Overdriver (which is transistor based) while the Boneshaker uses Op-Amps (it's kinda comparable, in design, to a Voodoo Labs overdrive, actually).

Thanks! The Boneshaker might be something I'll try in the future, but I will continue to keep an eye out for a used Black Forest.

I guess this is not really meant to be a high gainer. it's all about tone
boost the amp with it and create the tone you always had in mind
like it for that

It's one of those "push an amp gainstage for maximum hair" type of pedals more than anything.

Starved voltage can open a whole new dimension of luscious, fuzzy drive tones with the Boneshaker, especially when the bass frequency clipping is set in its upper range.
