For what its worth, the Supernatural can get really subsonic when I put it in one of the plate modes and drone out. Might be a hint to what you are after as far as warm/not tinny reverb?

The Supernatural is on my list of pedals to look for actually. Haven't come across one locally, guess I should just buy one online.

I haven't owned alot of reverbs as I always feel they are not what I want or a bigbox super expensive overkill deal. I like the bitquest reverb alot, especially the dirty setting it's so lush and gross and just nice and the infinite setting is amazing too. I like my hardwire too but I am not really in love with it, like it replicates high quality reverbs very well but I feel like thats not what I'm after and even though they are cool the gate and reverse modes get boring, the reverse especially since it hasn't got any dry signal. I use it for spring reverb now because I have been really into Lee Perry and space echos recently but I still prefer real life springs since you can kick 'em but my combo amp is direly in need of new tubes and I only use it at home.

That's pretty much all the verbs I have used (well the polara too but its the same as my hardwire except without the sick industrial gate mode and crappy shimmer instead)

I feel I would be remiss in my duties as a forum contributor to not point out that you can spend like $500 and get a real tube reverb unit:
https://reverb.com/item/6527283-fender- ... 0-s-blonde
but yeah, they aren't nearly as versatile as a good digital pedal IMO. I bought a holy grail after I moved to using my Triple Rectifier for everything and honestly I think it sounds better (for what I am looking for) than the tube reverb I had previously on my Peavey "Duel" (The old 2x12 100Watt twin reverb ripoff with a metal speaker grill). Tube reverb sounds great, but I think most of us are actually looking for a more spacey type sound.

I've been wanting a matthew effects cosmonaut for a while. I like the idea of 2 reverbs in one pedal.

Yea real spring reverbs are the coolest but also silly and clunky. However im converting my amp to a 19 inch rack and the case i got has a space open that i could fit a tank and a diy driver in hmmm...

Two Boss pedals: RV-2 and FRV-1. The FRV-1 is my favorite flavor of spring reverb and is almost always on. The RV-2 is more dark and ambient. Never at the same time. Goes great with a DSD-2 or 3 or DD-3 set to slapback.

I have to confess I'm proud as hell of that fact

space, rv-500, neunaber stuff, bitquest verb - RULE! supernatural is pretty cool too and can be found cheap, but it compressed my fuzzies. isn't a problem unless you slam it. RM-1N is also up there but it's kind of it's own beast
i'm glad i can call you a friend. even if i'll never see you again

Black Friday has me itching for a big box verb. The Boss RV-500 deal looks nice, and am also considering a scratch and dent Empress. Anyone have a favorite of the two? The ability to edit on the PC for the Boss seems like a plus but I think the sound of the Empress from the demos is more versatile (ie, weird modes like Ghost). Which one sounds *least* like the Space, which I can't bond with and will sell if I get one of these...

Well, since this thread got necro'd - No, I have not tried the Empress or the RV-500 (although a used power supply or something I once bought came packed in that box, it is BIG)

I posted on pg.2 a few years ago, since then I no longer have the Nimbus. Although it was great I found I actually don't use a lot of reverb. I like it when the sound stops when the hand stops. The Ghost Echo I still have and that's always on the left/secondary/wet[test] amp, but with minimum decay and depth, so it's only audible when i engage the low gain drive after it. Also have the BitQuest now, that's on the left hand path too. If you do want the sound to continue after you stop playing, the infinite verb there is sweeeeeet, love the tone control and tasteful modulation.

Oh and got a nice spring reverb on the Peavey Pacer, this tank would look cool converted to a pedal ˇˇˇ (not my picture but mine has the same awesome label)

I can't remark about similarities or differences in comparison to the Eventide or Empress units, but definitely dig my Boss RV-500 most out of all available pedal-based reverberation sources, which also include a Dr. Scientist Bitquest, Digitech Polara, and Zoom MS-70 CDR. It hasn't left my board since the point of purchase and has all sorts of nifty features like glitchy infinite tails and other forms of momentary expression control that can be triggered by toggling an onboard footswitch.
