My metal phase is just about gone but I still really like some folk metal bands because they incorporate traditional folk instruments and mythological themes.
I've really liked Eluveitie because they're from Switzerland and I'm Swiss and they're just plain fun.
Recently I discovered Arkona. I'd heard of them for a long time but just now decided to check them out. I like them a lot.

Damn it man, any time someone overhears me listening to metal..."Dude, is that metalocalypse/dethklok?"...no mother f'er it's Wintersun, or Amon Amarth, or any number of REAL bands. Dethklok would be more legit if it was still one guy (one of the two creators) doing it all.

I have not yet ventured into pagan metal...
Though I know tons of doom, black, and ambient metal if you ever have the hankering for it.

Jero, you totally named my favorite... Amon Amarth!
I really fell in love with them while I was playing through Shadows of the Colossus on PS2. I liked them before that, but there was just something about playing that game while listening to Amon on my iPod. Epic!

Pagan metal is used for heavy metal music which fuses extreme metal. Usually referring to folk metal or black metal. I know about Ensiferum and Korpiklaani and stuff. Finntroll is pretty awesome so there is no doubt about that. Its my all time favorite.
