I picked one up in a trade this year and flipped it as soon as possible.
There was nothing bad about it necessarily, it just didn't boost as much as I would have liked (I only use boost before gain pedals for extra drive). Couldn't notice much difference between the OTA and VCA modes. The tone control just felt/sounded a little off to me.
Basically it left me wanting more. I have the MF Drive and love it, but didn't feel the same for the Boost. Maybe it would have sounded better with fuzz going into it but I didn't experiment much with it that way. So your intentions could be perfect for it. They are super cheap used so it's a pretty affordable experiment.

Re: Moog MF Boost?
Ok I got the thing today.
It does what I need it to do.
It was hard to tell how much it was boosting until I turned amp up to giging volume... And... Turnined on my compressor....
So observations....
Like most things made by the great and powerful Moog... Guitar is really not... Exactly.. The best gauge...
Unlike pedals made for guitar the sub frequencies come through very well... Thing really made for huge.. Granted I was playing through a 2x15 and 1x18
the tone control cuts highs... [like duh] and when you have it between the dirt and a filter you can use it for shaping.
Will report more after more testing and figuring out hoe to get it not to overload all my compressor pedals...

Re: Moog MF Boost?
From the Moog manual, FWIW:
Ok ok ok
Moar (slightly hidden) gain?!EXPRESSION PEDAL INPUT - This input is assigned to Gain. With Gain set to minimum, an expression pedal can be used as a volume pedal. At the mid setting in clipped OTA mode, the expression pedal allows you to swell in and out boost levels musically. At maximum, use an expression pedal to add input Gain not available on the panel of your MF Boost and overdrive your amp.
Good morning!

Yeah a lot of them seem to work this way, you can pull more delay time out of the Flanger and more broader frequency range from the Ring, when using expression pedal.coupleonapkins wrote:From the Moog manual, FWIW:Moar (slightly hidden) gain?!EXPRESSION PEDAL INPUT - This input is assigned to Gain. I still don't get the issues you guys were having.. the thing does what it is suppose to do and does it well.. I'm guessing it's because deep down you all hate fuzz.
