Re: What's your favorite reverb pedal?
my fave all time is probably the big box holy grail. it's been years since i've played one though so it could be more fond memories than anything else i suppose.
as far as what i have currently, rm1n is my favorite. also avalanche run didn't wow me at first, but it has been a grower

Amps are Egnater Tweaker 15 and a Boss Katana (). Nothing is run through the effects loop, it's all in front of the amp. Maybe that's the issue. I'm a simpleton, to be honest.BoatRich wrote:Pretty much all of those are really capable of warm and lush. What's the rest of your rig like and are they running in front of your amp or in the loop?Aghartha wrote:I'm starting to think I'm just not very good at using reverb, or I'm expecting something else. I've got a Holy Grail, HOF2, Caverns V2, and Delay Workstation and they all sound metallic and thin when ever I get them to a level I can hear. I was assuming an "analog" would be warm and rich, but wasn't really aware that analog delays weren't really the norm anymore. A lot of the stuff posted here sounds good though, so this is something to go off of.
I guess chasing a specific guitar tone is better than chasing a white dragon though, and it sure beats thinking about work.
Mostly playing a J Mascis Jazzmaster.
This is gonna sound really fucking lame but I also have a Boss ME80 and, aside from the poor distortion and fuzz, it sounds great; very sterile and I love it for ambient/noisy stuff. I picked it up when I couldn't find a Tera Echo locally since that's one of the built in effects and I've been pretty happy with it. The simple reverb on it has always sounded good to my ears, the delays are what I was after, but I wanted better fuzz and some crazier reverb.

Nothing wrong with an ME-80 dude, a lot of those effects sound great. Especially the delays and verbs. Stuff will definitely sound better in the loop on the Katana. Those Tweakers are cool too, it may just be an eq issue?

It took me 20 years to figure out that I liked delays and reverbs better in the FX loop on my Triple Rec.. my Bassman doesn't have one so I just have to be picky with signal chain. Holy grail is dope for like $70.. I put a boss style power plug in mine in about 7 minutes so you don't have to worry about the power adaptor. The Flurb or whatever setting is kind of fun too.

The original Spring Chicken was great. I miss the simplicity of it - using my foot to adjust as needed.
I'm not as reverb hungry as I once was but the M5 gets it done for me. The Spring algo isn't springy but I like it, and the Cave. Particle can be cool too. I did the expression mod on mine and it works great.
Found some old recordings with the mod on the RV-5 and I miss that.

RV3, BitQuest, Avalanche Run are my favorites in one order or another. I also really like the Procession but don't give a shit about the ethics of its use of the spin chip so I hesitate to mention it, but here we are.

Re: What's your favorite reverb pedal?
how can you tell the difference between all the OBNE reverbs?
(This sounds like a setup for a "Clapton sucks without cream" style joke but its a serious question)

Procession, while still oriented for pads, has more pronounced effects in the trails of the reverb (filtered effects and tremolo). Dark Star is the the longer form pad reverb and is structured around pitch and bit reduction. I have both; in my opinion they both start in the same place but end differently (if that makes any sense). Or their structure is the same, just how the trails are 'decorated' is different. Hope that helps.

Dark Star is my next real guy built pedal purchase. I'm cheap and fairly decent with a soldering Iron$harkToootth wrote:Procession, while still oriented for pads, has more pronounced effects in the trails of the reverb (filtered effects and tremolo). This. Probably my favorite just grab and go, good as fuck sounding reverb. Always works.MEC wrote:RRR.
For dirtier I love the RM1N. Dispatch Master does the enormous thing better than most I've played. The OTO Bam is fucking excellent, but it's definitely a bit fancy and lives somewhere between a pedal and a more studio quality verb.

I’ve been using the Afterneath and the Shift Line Astronaut. They both work incredibly well together with the Afterneath providing weirder sounds and the astronaut laying down everything from gorgeous ambient soundscapes to spooky modulated stuff. The octave down shimmer on the astronaut sounds insane too.

Since we're on the topic of reverb pedals, anyone here have any experiences with the Sky Fi?
