so, i'm REALLY rusty understanding CV.

i'll be using the HD as a guitar pedal (of course) - so as i sustain a note, i can control FREQ or DEPTH with an external Eurorack module?

like a waveform GENERATOR that would output a CV of that signal?

OR

a CV expression pedal?

if i am BARELY understanding this, the possibilities for guitar are endless.

i'm know this isn't new - just new to me.

thanks.

On that pedal it looks like the CV controls the frequency of the oscillator.
good deals are here.

great, thanks.

i couldn't find that info - but makes sense.

i'm liking that pedal - i've been looking at the Geiger Counter, but meh.

i just need to wrap my head around the modular synth thing as a way to modify my guitar signal.

if there is another pedal/module that affects an audio input (1/4") through waveshaping with CV, i'll take any and all suggestions.

i'm all in for going Eurorack too. doesn't have to be a pedal.

thanks for the info so far!!!

What exactly are you trying to get out of Euro? If I understand correctly, you want to control the the pedal above using some form of CV?

Yah, man. I'll generally compose a patch at ~100 bpm and then crank it to 150, 180, 200, whatever because fast shufflings is my hometown.

Exactly.

So if there are Eurorack audio input waveformers that take cv (obviously) that could be an alternative to that pedal, great.

I sm all ears.

He makes a Eurorack of that pedal too.

So i guess as a CV source any eurorack generator with cv will do.

Yes?

So, if we're doing pedal (or any outside audio; guitar, synths, contact mic you fart on), you're going to need some sort of way to bring that level up to euro land, and back down to pedal land. My recommendation is: http://busycircuits.com/alm006/ With that you will be able to send and return with everything else (so you can use modules to shape audio), but it also has a handy CV input that outputs 3V and 5V for pedal's expression input.

After that, it's your world to build for audio and CV shaping. The easiest recommendation for wacky and experimental shapes would be a Dual Envelope Generator, the most popular being the Make Noise Maths. It's a self patching monster that will give you all you could want and more.

If you're looking to replicate that pedal in euro (outside of his euro version), there are quite a few PLL modules. Doepfer A196 and Mutable Instruments Tides are the first two off the top of my head that can do PLL stuff.

Think of CV as a value that can be generated arbitrarily, just like a parameter with a knob, CV input works the same way just without a knob. On most guitar pedals you can use a passive expression pedal to control the CV input, and is where I would recommend you get started. Maybe even ask the manufacturer what expression pedal they recommend, different exp. pedals will behave differently depending on the potentiometer value. There are some pedal based CV/expression sources that will give you LFO options too: Source Audio Reflex, Copilot FX Broadcast, Moog MP-201 (discontinued and expensive but still cheaper than getting into eurorack.)
I've been searchin' for the dolphins in the sea.

holy cow!

that ALM006 looks like THE BRIDGE i was seeking.

still need to figure some of this stuff out, but that may be the key piece in all this.

THANKS!

Ordered a Just Friends to complete the Mannequins line up.
Will be getting rid of Tides. Thinking about losing Spectrum, SVVCF, and maybe the Plague Bearer. I'll need to spend another week or two with them before I really decide. The Spectrum is great and covers everything that the Mangrove doesn't. But I do have a Minibrute for the more standard kind of things.
Unless somebody is looking for those and has a Rings they are wanting to trade. :p

Speaking of Rings anyone have any favorite percussion style modules? Not drums. Or favorite techniques for coaxing bubbley, drippy, clicky, bongo things? I've been using the Plague Bearer and SVVCF which kind of gets me there. I just figure a Rings would get me there quicker without tying everything up. But if I'm to dumb to use Tides... :idk:

I use a Make Noise Optomix for this. Can turn any osc into a wonderful vactrol clang. Works exceptionally well with my Equation Composer and Braids.
