I used to be the biggest anti-solid state tube purist. Mosltly based on my great experiences with high end tube amps and my not so great experiences with small shitty ss amps from the early 90's (anyone remember those 'gorilla' combos?).
It wasn't till recently that I learned that not all ss amps flatout suck, and that they can be the best bang for the buck if you're after a pedal platform that only gets used at home.
I don't know if the DRRI is 'twice' as good, I'd personally say that the difference with the PV C30 isn't a matter of better/worse. It's just "different"
To each their own, right? I liked the cleans of the DRRI better, and since I'm a pedal whore, the meh drive channel on the pv didn't make up for that.
At the time I also kept reading too many reviews about QC issues. Tube rattle, heat problems,....And the stock speaker (at least on the older ones) didn't get a lot of love either.
