Considering getting a small SS head as backup for my Traynor and as a grab'n'go amp.
I'd recommend the Quilter. I used Powerblock at a show a long time ago and it didn't really want to stay on all the time. It was too dicey so I never played out with it again :idk:

Anyone on here have experience with the Microblock 45? I currently use an Orange Micro Terror for band practices when I don't feel like carrying my VTM. Problem is, most of my gain is from pedals, and the Orange has zero headroom. It can get pretty loud but all my pedals sound like garbage through it. Seems like the Microblock would be better for this than the Orange, but maybe someone on here has both and can fill me in.

Also thought I'd chime in; took me a while to figure out how to get some sparkle out of the 201 (or I guess any of their amps with "Tri-Q Contour").

Contrary to my instincts I found you need to have the tri-q all the was to the bass roll off position (full clockwise) which for some reason makes the tops sharper. Go figure.

Edit: looking at the manual now the symbol (which to me looks like a bass roll off ) is actually a mid/high boost:

TRI-Q: The frequency response is flat, or neutral, in the middle. The left
end of the control accesses a “scooped” EQ with full treble and bass, but
less midrange, often used for greater “chime” and clarity. The right end
of the control accesses a midrange-treble boost with reduced bass, often
used for a more forward lead-guitar effect. These three main voices are
blended smoothly on in-between settings.

Ended up going to the 101 Mini. Excels in all the ways that my Micro Terror disappointed me and is def loud enough to act as a backup amp at gigs. I do get what people say about the EQ on these things though. It always has some kind of flavor to it that seems optimized for a specific task. Finding a tone that works well for both heavy riffing and clear lead playing (in a band context) is not easy. Overall I am happy with it and I'm sure I can make it work for my needs.

maybe the solution is the flat curve and then a pair of EQ pedals, one for riffffff, the other for lead shenanigans? or one programmable EQ (like that source audio) for space economy.
