Ordered a Fairfield Accountant at prymaxe, about four weeks ago. Got lost in the mail
So I settled for one of those old tiny green guyatones. Gotto say I'm impressed. Got it dirt cheap, and it's nice and squishy, and surprisingly quiet too.
I guess the CS-3 I used to have was good enough for my humble needs. Prefered the slow breathing effect of my very first comp: Boss CS-1. Too bad it was noisy like a mother :/

For guitar and interestingness on bass orange squeezers are actually great, my guitarist never turns Hers off... It really helps bring out all the overtones and chimey bits in chords
Dude I live for good compression. When I play guitar (less and less these days) my boss LM-2 is a constant. Chronically underrated and cheap as fuck for what it does.
Got an Xotic SP recently. I'm am FAR from being knowledgeable about compressors, but I like what this does to my clean tone...it just adds that lil something and evens out my shit playing a bit hahahaha.

Here to say I leave my accountant on 100% of the time in my guitar rig. If I want a more typical compressor sound I bought a dod milk box for like $30 a few years ago and it's pretty great.not noisey, squashes pretty well, infinitely better than the cs3 I had to use before I bought it.
Had a real old one, struggled with noise floor at volume but like the general clampyness, played better with buckers
I mostly use buckers, so thats good news. Interesting about the noise floor. Im trying to eliminate as much noise as I can from my rig (which is mostly my amp), as everyone does. Reports on the new one say its pretty quiet, so maybe they've fixed it?

The thing with dyna comps is youve got to set them so you dont notice them. Sounds like it defeats the whole purpose of the exercise, but if you can feel the squish with them, you gotta dial it back.
WWPD?
