Someone texts me asking if it's available, saying they'll PayPal me the money and arrange for pick-up because they're in Ohio and part of some merchant program where PayPal arranges for pickup or something? Seemed super sketchy.

But on the other hand, I just sold a guitar on CL last week and it went great!
definitely a scam. I used to get offers like this -all the time- until I started adding 'SCAMMERS FUCK OFF'; it actually helped.

I sold some gear on there a few months ago. some solid people come thru sometimes but usually it's a bunch of low ballers.
i'm glad i can call you a friend. even if i'll never see you again

I sold a Mustang bass a couple weeks ago and a Moog Sub Phatty last week after they had been listed for a few months. Some things just take time but eventually someone always seems to come along.

It's my preferred route for heavy stuff (amps and guitars/basses) but usually a bad idea for non-mainstream pedals in my experience. Could just be my location but nobody is really interested in weird boutique pedals or even vintage Boss/MXR/EHX pedals. Those things are B/S/T or Reverb items.

Occasionally I meet some really cool ILF-type dudes on craigslist too. A few years ago I traded a bass for a DL4 to a guy and now our bands happen to play shows together all the time. He still has the bass!
