Pedalboards: angled or tiered?

Post by Benn Roe »

I've been using the same pedalboard for over a decade, but over the last year or so I've been playing more guitar than bass and I've been accumulating more and more pedals to accommodate the relatively effects-heavy sound of my current band. Thus, I've finally outgrown my board, and have set my sights on something bigger. I don't have the world's most graceful feet, though, and as my board has gotten more crowded, I've found it harder to nail all my stomps as reliably. My current board is flat, but has an angled second tier for the back row. Anyone switched from a tiered pedalboard to a fully angled one and found that it helped with accuracy? Finding a way to try out a different style of pedalboard ahead of purchasing seems like an uphill battle, so I'm looking for feedback. I think having everything angled will help, but who knows?

I think it's plausible that angled will help. At one point I made a tiered board and found it a little more awkward for stomping than the angled which I switched to.

Even with an angled board stuff can get lost on the back row or settings can get knocked easily. I sometimes use Diego risers (https://www.cheaperpedals.com/products/ ... edal-riser) on the back row of my boards to make them both angled and tiered.

Why not give in to the insanity and go with a vertical carousel system?

:idk: Well I sure do.. I have like 50 pedals and I've never made a pedal board. I think should I decide to build one I will be going tiered.

im a Holeyboard person. The tiered and angled back row definitely helps but im just using it to keep them off the floor.
