Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
You should do a demo with simple recognizable sounds like a sinewave, a speech sample, etc. processed by TGD and with no reverb/etc./other sound fuckery after that.

This is one of the best modular videos i've seen in a while. Love that he's playing live. It's a great track. He makes all the modules he's playing. AND that case is sick!

WOW that's an inspiring video Ruiner.
Is there anything available even close to the controller he's using???

Instead of buying mult modules, I bought some Intellijel Hubs. Anyone else using these? It seems like not many folks are using these. It's four input passive mult for ten bucks American dollars.
Also, scored a deal on a Flame Talking Synth which fills the need in my rack for a conventional oscillator (hehehe).

That's not quite how the Mysteron works. The excite inputs are more trigger inputs than gate inputs, but you can get sustained sounds by maxing out the regen knob. Given the nature of the circuit it is prone to change timbre over time depending on what other parameters are changed, and once (only once) I did have a full-regen sound die off.vidret wrote:Dude! not bad!aen wrote:READY FOR KNOBCON!
how you enjoying the mysteron? I've been trying to see whether it can do good sustained sounds simply by keeping the gate open going into the exciter, what do you say?
also is that 104 hp or 84hp? looks like 104.
So yes, it will make sustained tones than you can use into a vca like an oscillator, for example, but it's behavior is variable due to the unpredictability of the circuit. If you have any questions about it I'm happy to let you know my experience

So I can't remember if I saw it here or elsewhere but someone posted a new 12U(?) portable case that seems relatively inexpensive...
Any ideas?

Here's my first attempt at a live euro jam.

Using the Frap Tools Sapel as the primary sequencer (random source). 2 voices from Instruo Troika. Drums and voices quantized by Instruo Harmonaig. Voices going to Folktek Matter, Conduit, Mutable Instruments Clouds and Ieaskul F. Mobenthey Swoop. Drums provided by Intellijel Plonk and are parallel processed with one clean signal, one through Make Noise Erbe-Verb and one through Retro Mechanical Labs Electron Fuzz pedal. All mixed on Qu-Bit Mixology. Mastered onto a Studer B67 reel to reel.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
That case looks spiffy as fuck behndy. I think the company started w a G and the case was like $700 w power. I meant to save the link but I'm a space cadet.
I might go w the Pittsburgh 360 so I can fit my Mescaline and other modules with a little bit of room for some small stuff later, but I really want a 12u w a flat bottom so I can put the Circadian and a touch controller in there.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Exactly though. Seems nice to have a different take from a standard osc.vidret wrote:stop copying me!coldbrightsunlight wrote:You people are making that mysteron sound real good...(don't stop. actually, you got anything for me? :v)
I'm thinking of the mysteron as a wild card oscillator, get some range in the system instead of just several oscillators with waveforms.
So, kbit, what would be the difference between giving it a long trigger or a short one? is there a difference?
I might be planning a second row
Also those are some nice noises ruiner

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I don't have it in my skiff right now, but from memory the length of just one gate on an input didn't seem to have a huge difference, but if you use both excite inputs and one is high while the other is struck there seems to be a slight difference in timbre. But to be honest it's subtle and doesn't seem to behave in a predictable manner. I actually remember sending negative voltage into the excite inputs which have it a slightly more mellow sound. I'll have to mess around with it again soon and report back.vidret wrote: So, kbit, what would be the difference between giving it a long trigger or a short one? is there a difference?
I went to a synth meetup last night and got to play with a Mannequin Mangrove and damn does that oscillator make some cool sounds. The intone control sweeps harmonics in a way that's way different than a wavefolder. & It's making me rethink my oscillator game.
Ive been reconsidering the DPO in my system. It sounds really cool (the sine waves especially), and it has a really intuitive workflow, but it's mostly based around FM, which I don't know how much I would use over other ways of timbre modulation... But it also makes super good percussive sounds because of it... I'm not gonna sell it anytime soon because I want to see how it will interact with other modules in my budding system, but I am thinking of a Mangrove + another good sine wave oscillator + a filter in the same amount of hp...
