I'm happy with the originals, if it was good enough for me then...it was good enough for me now. :)

Yeah, this is where I'm at.

I'm still considering this option.
rfurtkamp wrote:I don't understand the point of a boutique clone at that price when the originals are available for under a hundred still on MIJs if you're patient.
Not where I am. Because of the market stupidity around it, you can't even get a fucked up one for under $130AU. And by the time I've done exchange rates and had one posted to me from OS, it ends up being about the same.
If you find a dirt cheap one, though, and you're feeling generous let me know and I'll send you the cash to cover it.
Because the Australian gear market is horse shit.

I just got my new one (early MIJ) from a music shop on the bay for $88.

Cosmetic damage to the footswitch/battery cover thing, but I didn't give a rat's ass.

They offered international shipping on that one, and it had been up for a few days before I hit the button.

If I see another I can let you know.

Thanks mate.
Yeah, condition doesn't bother me, but putting a ridiculous price on something that's beat to shit just because you can is kind of insulting.

Nah, it was reasonable given it was paint damage and not electronic - no replaced pots or FS, intact knobs, etc.

I actually was taken by the splotch on it, it's what made me stop and look.

The shop had no clue though, they had the usual "dim LED" comment indicating they didn't know what the originals looked like even hooked up to the 12V supply directly.

But for a third of the "boutiques" it's a no brainer, especially since I've become skeptical of a lot of them - I don't want a revoicing or additions, I just want the actual circuit.

I went through that with Bee Baas until I found one with the proper nasty boost included that wasn't 'fixed.'

Understandable.
And, after swearing off boutique clones, I just found out Dunn are doing one.

I really liked the 1984 I had, so this will probably be rad, too.
Interest piqued. :picard:

Bizzare control layout on the Dunn.

The reversal of the high/low knobs makes no sense.

Kinda no point to doing it when the Blue Box is like, $65 new and the buzz box thing can be accomplished with just about any distortion running into the front of it.

Thank you Sir. I suspected as much. Although...the MASF Kidnapped sounds really cool!

I have no shortage of shitty distortions and octavers so this might be my new magic combo :excellent:!

Its pretty close to the original design. I would know as I laid out that pedal (actually Ive laid out most of Dunn's current pedal lineup)

The L/H swap is just a matter of control location but that was Dunn's suggested control layout. I just conformed the parts to fit the space he sent me.

Getting a close sound to the original is just about fine tuning the EQ to get the right response hence why I did that in the Tyrant and the Nihilist versions (and the Trap Them sig but that seems DOA at the moment) The Modded HM2 (aka Strange Aeons) is not like that at all. I purposely split the EQ into more bands except the Low (which is in the same place as the original).
