Don't think that applies to the MP5, I trust the smith who did the thing, as he made the two Hk-51s I have and they run like greased lightning as well.

I mean you're not wrong, I just wouldn't use a degree to make a point about philosophy on a pedal forum. Or probably anywhere at this point.
I didn't mean it in that way, more that you have a vested interest in taking philosophy seriously. It would be an odd way to spend your education and career if you didn't.
Most folks do not have that perspective, and without knowing how well read we all are and with all respect to everyone's fundamental intelligence, we perhaps lack a depth to our collective musing that comes with having studied the area over a long period of time.
This does not deny the possibility of decent discussion, nor belittle anyone's contribution. It's merely a fact that your perspective on philosophy as such will be shaped by your education and career, in a way that for example my perspective isn't.

Something something 22 dollar nihilism.
Maybe!

All I meant to get at was that sometimes you forget you're stuck in some culture war or another and that people hate you for being or believing something that is just a part of who you are. Having a good day, and someone tells 'fuck you' out of the ideological equivalent of a moving car.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Necro bumping because I want to know if anyone knows how Blackie used his HM2.
Was it as a gain box or an eq?
Hard Ons fans everywhere are cringing at this post.

Basically I only want to know because it could be the thing that pushes me into getting one.

I'm pretty sure Entombed should be enough reason to get one, bruh.

Pope, don't you love DISMEMBER? I know I do! They're in the lexicon of 'HM-2 core'.

I just recently got a Left Hand Wrath Deleuxe for $225 and free shipping and am oh so happy with it! My only HM-2 adaptation (I think?).

Dont get me wrong, I love that shit.
Its somewhat disappointing that the sudden wave of fascination with that entombed record and hipster fascinatio with black metal has bought this pedal back into vogue amd driven the prices up, but Im sort of more interested in its other uses and applications.
I know nils has touted its use as a clean eq boost, and I was just wondering if Blackie, traditionally known for cranking an 800, used it to similar effect.

I dig. I wonder what pedal will be resuscitated next. Clean reverb boosts?

I actually don't think we're far away from a mainstream hair metal revival/interest.

Well, a lot of those 80s amps lay the foundation for heavier things to come.

Other uses, I picked up another recently (found a good deal and couldn't find anything else I wanted for my birthday), even though I have the sound and then some in my period BOss rackunit, I thought it'd be nice to effectively have a preset of my usual HM-2 setting of yore in the actual pedal before they got too damn expensive.

You can get a very pleasant high gain that's old-school voiced, not metal necessarily, but that pairs wonderfully with a Fender-type preamp and a clean backend. It's mean and full as hell. Gain is just above unity.

My standard setting from when I gigged with one as my only gain pedal, still useful today:

I went through a phase of running an octave down pedal on bass into an HM-2 that had the full chainsaw setting. Sounded like a sick, sick synth.

When is BOSS going to Waza this bad-boy? Would sell like cakes that are hot.

The added custom mode that they tag onto everything could be interesting. Plus the idea of shelling out $250 on a booteek clone doesn't sit well with me. I'm pretty sure everyone that owns an HM-2 would buy a 'w' to boot. But then they've not done the PN-2 yet and that surely has to be next up?

Anyway, my other favourite setting is the Godflesh tone (12 o clock, 9 o clock, 3 o clock, 12 o clock), that shit swings.

I don't understand the point of a boutique clone at that price when the originals are available for under a hundred still on MIJs if you're patient.
