I've got to echo what's already been mensioned:

Dispite breaking their tradition of using god awefull graphics, if this is the same as their regular stuff in terms of pore QC, ps filtering, plastic knobs...I'll Pass :idk:
But yeah, the first reason why I couldn't care less about yet another new big muff: Everyone and their mother builds a version of every single big muff type.

Imo, a reissue that looks exactly like the old one, and is close to boutiqe quality in every way...That might just be enough to tempt me, even if it was a little less cheap than what this one will probably be.

Also, does this mean they'll eventually also reissues of some of the other classic muff types? Triangle, bubble front, ram's head, opamp,...:idk:
Again, I bet they'd sell better if they'd be quality reissues with the original looks :idk:

I've had like 5 EHX pedals and never had an issue. You guys must be unlucky.

These should show up at the shop I teach at on Monday, I'll report back. I can get one for $50, but EHX hasn't made a Muff I've really dug in quite a while, so I'm skeptical.

This ^

I've probably had even more, though. The worst thing I've had happen were some nuts that came loose :idk:

I'm also quite the EHX fan, I currently own like 10 of their pedals, but the footswitch on the Freeze though...

Still, the size and colour of this thing make it visually very pleasing and I've been toying with starting a second project in which I play guitar instead of bass VI lately. This could scratch the muff itch I'll inevitably end up having in that situation. If it's like €50 I might just get one of these instead of doing a clone myself.

Waiting for reviews... if it's an accurate clone of the tall front, I want one. It's $89.

I like my NYC reissue, btw. Wooly.

a sentiment i forgot to share. not like it's gonna be anything special, it's cheap, ehx is not the best at qc as we've discussed already, so yeah...

MechaGodzilla wrote:I think EHX offering a variety of muffs has definitely turned people away from just buying the big box current version (which sucks) coz I see a lot more bass BM and tone wicker muffs on indie kid boards the past few years. Imagine a kid starting out, wants to sound like whoever and can tell his big box reissue isn't cutting the mustard. "Get thee a russian muff clone" says the internet hivemind. Well, now that kid can go back to ehx instead of fredric, wren&cuff, arc effects, whoever. Smart move for ehx but I doubt this will be better than those small builders' clones.
True, but you still have to have a Big Big Muff ... why? just 'cause ...

hey i still look for cheap black russian big muffs all the time. that was by far my favorite big muff. though i have no need for fuzz, at all. i prefer fuzzy overdrives like fuck and ocd and mini as opposed to straight fuzz. but i'm sure i'll give it a try when we get them in new at work, and probably buy one coz cost will be so cheap.

It appears a few manufactures are feeling threatened by this. COUGH Wren and Cuff COUGH. You can't beat their quality however. So, it's not really any comparison. I told them that on Instagram, but I'm pretty sure they are worried here. Like legit concerned.

I mean, I'd buy this over theirs because of price but if it sucked, I'd buy theirs next.

.

I just sold my TFR to buy the EH. You gotta love prymaxe and their coupon codes. Got mine for 64 bucks.

And LOL, just read the instagram post. I find it funny how many people literally kiss boutique pedal maker's asses in these posts. Constant stream of "Your's is so much better," and "no one meticulously crafts pot tapers like you do," and other kiss-ass pussy bullshit. Earth to pedal buyers.....boutique pedal makers are no better or worse than you and you should not kiss their asses. Jeez, I thought I was at a Talkbass convention while reading that Instagram post. It was entertaining though!
