so i pretty much sold out.....

Post by htsamurai »

got a new band going, for one sole purpose
to make money
:(

the music aint bad, but we're desiging it in a way that we can play it at...say a restaurant?
and still have people be able to talk over it
its jazzy lounge music with a flamenco feel to it.

think semi-hollows, brushes and quiet keyboards
*sigh*
oh well, im trading some of my guitar editing services to the other guitarist and he's gonna buy me a shoe gazer, so i suppose its all good

wll update when more details become avaliable....

oh yeah, heres the kicker
people around town know me, so when some heard i was doing this band i got some gigs offered
i accepted a nice little coffee shop one across town for 3 weeks from now
but...um....
we've only got 2.5 songs and no keyboardist, singer or bassist
:D

what will i do?
answer: :idk:

Hey, nothing wrong with playing in places people go to talk
Keep your creativity even if you aim at getting money. You don't see Brian Eno living in dirt, do you? Do we remember Erik Satie as a sellout?

In fact, I wish i could be in a band like that, would be a fun project.

(yes I'm on the forum all the time, writing essays is so very boring)

Are people showing up to specifically watch you play, or are just providing the atmosphere? If it's just the atmospere, have a laptop running drones of chords that you can just lightly riff over, or even a little casio keyboard, or something quiet in the background for the jazzy stuff.
vocals..I don't know anything about singing so I can't add anything there.
good luck with it and keep it fun.
*the end is upon us*

the original idea was that we'd be there for ambience
but it seems we're gonna be actually putting on a show

we found us another guitar player, a friend of mine who at age 21 is considered a master in flamenco, me and the other original guitarist are switching off on guitar and bass.
its developing into a pretty cool thing, a real nice sound kinda hard to describe.
its like a mix of newer Paco de Lucia stuff, or even some Vicente Amigo stuff.
and Chambao.
idk, ill let you guys know whats up and when we've some songs and vids up :)

There's no shame in trying to pay for some new pedals. ;)

I've been doing some money makers too, from playing on commercials, to doing weddings and the like.
And even my "real" band has gotten into bed with some major corporations.

Selling CDs is just not where the money is these days, so get it wherever you can.

The "cool contest" has been cancelled. Sell out now.

Fun jam! Sounded very lovely.
For some reason I was reminded of post-punk or post-rock in some parts of it, does that make sense? Just some of the chord progressions.

I added you *thumbs up*
