Tremolessence Ultimate Version Features

Post by Ryan »

I'm working on the upcoming Tremolessence and I was hoping to have a bit of a dialogue about the features on it....

My goals for the first prototype are:

*Same 5 knobs and two toggle switches as the current version: Rate, Depth, Shape, Volume, Treble, toggle for speeds, toggle for square or triangle waves.

*No flippin' battery, pedal will be able to run at 9VDC to 18VDC.

*Soft touch switching system with non-latching relays.

*2 expression jacks, one for rate, one for depth.

I consider those things pretty much written in stone although I'm still battling a bit of switching noise with the momentary switch and relays. A proper boxed-up-with-pcb prototype will tell the story better.

There's a feature I'm pondering though, got it working last night and I think it's fun and sounds cool.. I'm curious what you guys think of it. A rise time control. Just like on the BOSS VB-2 vibrato. It lets you set the time it takes for the effect to kick in from dry when you hold down the momentary switch. There'd be an extra toggle switch on the box to choose between rise time mode and normal on/off mode and there'd be an extra knob to set the rise time, or how long the effect takes to ramp up or kick in or get tremoloing.

So you'd set the toggle to ramp mode, then when you want your tremolo effect to start ramping up you hold down the stomp switch. The tremolo effect can be set to take from around 1 to 5ish seconds to smoothly get up to full depth and then when you take your foot off the stomp switch it smoothly fades back out to totally dry.

I think it's a neat feature.. and since I'm taking the battery away I really want to deck this version out with everything I can... so whatcha think of a rise time feature?

a rise function would be pretty interesting! I'd like to see it in the new tremolessence! this could distinguish even more the tremolessence from a lot of trems on the market, making it even more unique.
also the option to engage/disengage the rise with just a switch lets people have both of words in the same tremolo so is a winner for me!

That sounds like a really cool feature. Nice washes of trem flowing in and out would be a sweet effect.

I quite like the idea of the rise feature... any youtube clips or anything showing a similar thing?

This will be the tremolo for me! (Especially with the potential rise option)

i'm really excited about expression controlled DEPTH
a lot more useful than the exp controlled rate that most tremolos w/ expression inputs do
now if this one had an external trigger input to synch it up with drum machine rhythms or a nintendo DS i wouldn't need a wobulator anymore ;)

I like being able to pick between rate or depth (or have both) with my expression pedal.
I'm already hatching brilliant ramped tremolo riffs.

lets hope this doesn't have a trigger input so you still have to get a wobulator and all the other lovetone pedals >.>

Ramp up sounds like a super-cool feature. Very useful for transitions in songs and if you don't want to use an expression pedal to control depth.

Is this also the place to ask for other features? If so, I'd like to see a randomization option.

+1 to the drum trigger. Regardless the current features sound great.
