Basically my reasoning I really could care less if it's germanium for 190 i can get an awesome pedal with a better warranty, cooler graphics, and with a better build quality ? Since there are so many clones and just other cool pedals why settle for something average? Why even stick to a big muff when there are so many different fuzzes out there now?

for $190. seriously. a SCHUMANN Two Face Fuzz or Blackout Effectors Twosome cost $190. you can barely get a regular boutique dirt for $190 let alone dual dirt. but becuz its boutique i'd bet your more than willing to pay out the wazoo for a dual dirt boutique pedal. & you'd probably be the first person screaming 'better build quality,' 'best sounding,' 'worth every penny' & 'the graphics are so awesome' as soon as the pedal hit your doorsteps. LOL.

to be honest though. this it probably the first time since i've seen their neu stuff & kind of yawned. mostly becuz i'm more into modulation than dirt. i guess its safe to say they want to put out something neu or update w/ each NAMM but this is one instance IMO where EHX should have just rested on their laurels cuz i have no interest in buying either one.

HOG2 would be tits. :omg:
the 33 was pretty cool... i tried it into a 2x12 and it gave some pretty decent push. i guess the 44 would be 44 watts :idk:

unless the HOG2 had Freeze Gliss i'd have absolutely no interest in it. it would have to have Freeze Gliss & a 2 Octave UP. & for as long as some ppl have been claiming to be waiting on a HOG2, in the time they've been waiting they could have saved up their pennies & dimes and actually bought a dang gum HOG.

i really like what EHX was doing. just coming out w/ neu pedals & ideas. to be honest. they've put out more than enough neu pedals that it'll take me a while before i can actually afford to buy the ones that i want.

you know what. screw my point. i don't have a problem w/ being wrong. or being in error. but when its time to talk about the Klon the first thing that comes up to justify the price for that is the germanium diodes. i think the Klon is cool but if i ever bought one there's no way in hell i'd go around saying i bought it becuz it fucking looks pretty. sorry i'm not that gullible. i like my art on my walls. not on electronic devices...

$190 is the list price
it'll probably cost $160 or so
i don't know why you lot are ALREADY complaining about it. it's two transistors per side so who knows how much of a big muff it actually is. i'm sure with the bias and volts controls you guys will be able to dial in some totally unusable buzzy raspy distortion
and  at saying you can (could*) get a schumann two face fuzz for that money. i think that is the one that schumann built the very fewest of and i will be very surprised if the reissues are that cheap.

Yeah to me as well.

I've about had it with them really. They invented the fucking bigmuff and yet still can't get it right... And when they "almost" get it right every time they discontinue it and come out with a more whitebread version... Every fucking time... They so almost had it right with the sovteks but couldn't keep them consistent so they make them cheeper and a little more whitebread, and a little more and you have the Russian, then the LBM, then even more and you have the BBM which is the wimpiest muff ever made, it's like someone mated Hana Montana with Pat Boon and shoved the creature into a box. Why would anyone want a watered down muff? I just don't get it. To make the ultimate muff should be easy for them, they have been at this since the fucking 60's :grumpy: So oh boy a new twist... How about making one that can do battle with all the clones and mods, then I will take a new one seriously....... maybe.

While I actually like both the NYC Muff and LBM I own, it actually amazes me that they haven't tried to do a Triangle or Ram's Head reissue or something like that. Even if it costs a little more than the regular NYC Muff, I'm sure it would fly off the shelves if they did it right.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff.

EHX excels at doing pedals others won't or can't do... ring thing, hog, cathedral, etc. etc.

Others excel at doing muff variants... EarthQuaker, BlackOut, Earthbound Audio, etc. etc.

I think this is EHX is now trying really hard to reclaim its lost ground.

Time will tell, won't it? ;)

My first Muff was a NYC reissue which was..... okay, but then I got my hands on one of the 70's op amp ones and the difference is mind blowing in terms of quality, tone, character. I don't know why they wouldn't do reissues, I'm sure those MXR script phase reissues sell well even though they're more expensive...... they should stay away from the nano chasis stuff too...... At this point I don't own any new EHX stuff but I love the older stuff I own like the Muff, the 70's small stone and the DMM..... all seriously great pedals.......

It does seem strange that they have kept true to one of their best designs (the DMM), while completely changing around the design of their other great classic (Big Muff). I think it's great that they offer really cool and innovative products, but it doesn't make sense to me that they completely disregard the classic circuits of their earlier muffs.

i'm the exact opposite. i prefer functional art. things that i can both use and admire from across the room, ie: Ohnoho's Feburary One-off line, beautiful hand-carved PRS guitars, french polished mahogany furniture from the 1800's that come with plush pillows that i can sit on while playing with said guitar and one-off pedal.

i'm bored with wall art.

ehx don't need to reissue the ram's head and triangle big muffs
the vast majority of people don't care which style muff they have (and probably don't know anything about the different models) and if they do they will get a 'boutique' big muff instead
it's the same as boss not needing to reissue any of their old classic pedals
us corksniffers are a very small fraction of all the musicians out there
