ILF 2017 Special Price, Special Run Velcrobot!

Post by FuzzHugger »

In honor of ILF (and also partly in honor of that overzealous legal intern at Velcro Industries who keeps getting on my case).
:ilf:
A special 2017 run of my wickedest fuzz, the Velcrobot! Featuring Jeff Fialko's art (subtly tweaked for maximum ILF), and at an absolute steal of a price! My way of saying thanks for being part of the ilovefuzz.com discussion forum.

Here it is, the special graphic limited-run Velcrobot! Low ILF-PRICE: $99!

(Of course, the robot's eyes light up.)
(Also, artist Jeff Fialko gets a cut of every sale!)

I have this exact velcrobot and the finish is outstanding.

It is also one of my desert island pedals.
But with impunity.

Here's to hookandloopbot!

Serious question, anyone using this with bass? If so, your thoughts? I'd like just one really gated fuzz in my collection and this price seems pretty good.

I don't play bass but I have a bass. I'll test it tonight. But I don't think it is a particularly bassy pedal.
FWIW it's a gated fuzz, but no really. It still has a lot of sustain and the decay is wonderful and sputtery and quite long, so it behaves differently to a lot of gated fuzzes.
It does oscillate as well, but it isn't really an oscillating fuzz either.
It does however do zippery velcro sounds and robots and telephone filters and industrial grind...

Thanks Goroth. Please let me know if you do end up testing it. It probably does lose lots of bass, but I also can vibe with the lo-fi AM radio sound as well, so your thoughts on bass would be appreciated. I guess I am mainly wondering about articulation. Does it get all mushy or is does it have a nice fast attack?

I use it on bass. It cuts lows but you can somewhat regain them freqs in the filter mode (both stomps engaged).

Confirmed.

This pedal needs passives. Normal mode is pretty boring with actives and bot mode is ok. But it is a waste of a great pedal.

On passives i thought bot mode (filtered) had even more range than on a normal guitar. It was incredible. It is always super saturated and just fun. Very sharp attack - you get very little of the bass's own attack and just get the crunch of the gate slamming open.

Normal mode has enough bass to be usable but a definite cut. The knobs are very interactive and you can get lots of different variations of crackle and sputter. There are no low gain or subtle sounds, but there are a lot of sounds. Reminded me of slamming a solid state amp sometimes.

I'm interested to hear what a full time bassist makes of it!

Thanks Goroth. I'll report back on your question once it arrives.

There's a pedal called a buffer buster that could fix the issues with actives. If I had 99 dollars, I'd tell if it worked with this. :) LOL

Doe this come in a left-handed version? How will it sound with inside-out strings? How will it sound in a mix with a Vietnamese dan bau and kettle drums? Will it cut through the mix if I sit in with the London Symphony Orchestra? How will it sound on Thursday night if the Moon is in a waning crescent phase?
