Achievement Unlocked: The Sound in my Head
So in this last year+ of trying shit loads of pedals something new happened the other day...
I've been writing some song parts for this project I've had in mind a while and I hadnt been able to get the right sounds for it.
I was looking for an "old" sound...Lo-fi, but with something "else" -- I didn't even really know what I was looking for.
A Hexe Melusine popped up on Reverb, which I've never seen used before. I remembered the pedal but went back to watch Piotr's demo. I thought, "Oh, shit...this may be what I'm looking for." Mind you, I've tried the Warped Vinyl, Lo Fi Junky, Ezhi/Aka stuff and others...nothing quite got me there.
The Melusine came. Plugged it in. Knobs set randomly really, but Bandpass filter mode was deliberate. And it happened. The sound in my damn head. There it was. I've NEVER experienced this before with a pedal. I think I saw doves flying outside. I heard an Angelic voice whisper in my ear.
What a feeling.
Have any pedals done this to you?

Seppuku FX Memory Loss is that pedal for me, undoubtedly. Paried with an RM-1N I also get all the voices in my head.

How much did you score the Melusine for? I've been interested in one in the past, but they're just way too expensive new for what they do, and (like you said) they never pop up used.
Former Bands: Lazy Gaga, Kadis-kot, Pyramids, In First Person, the Holy Fucking Spirit, Take Down Your Art, A Petal Fallen

I paid $350. Piotr charges €285 so not too much above retail.bennroe wrote:How much did you score the Melusine for? I've been interested in one in the past, but they're just way too expensive new for what they do, and (like you said) they never pop up used.
I'll be honest ...I did feel some nausea spending that much as, like you said, it seems like a "limited" effect. But, I knew it'd be easy to flip if it didn't work out. But ended up being totally worth it in my case. The Bandpass filter is really incredible and the modulation is quite unique. Then the crackling/noise just adds to the flavor.

I feel this way every time I step on my boner and my voice comes out an octave higher.

I think the 0-Coast really does this for me. I've dialed in tones and sequences that make me wanna cry they sound so dang good. It's just hella expressive for being a mono synth. And if you add a harmonizer? Don't even get me started.
Pedals-wise, I'd have to say the Happiness. I'd never messed w a filter before, but it changed me, man.

Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)
I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

That thing's pretty impressive... I wish it wasn't so expensive. It's the only pedal I've heard that actually sounds like a dusty record, but tbh I think I'd be less interested in the dust/crackles than the awesome warble / filter. I know it obv doesn't have all of the same features, but how would the Shallow Water owners compare the sounds of that random modulation to the Melusine? I've had my eye on that for a while, quite enticed by its warbly offerings.

FRV-1 finally got the spring reverb sound for me. That Belton brick shit was not doing it for me at all.

Re: Achievement Unlocked: The Sound in my Head
all I know is ive wanted that pedal for ages....when ever its up for sale Im either 100 bucks short or sit their debating i can get that sound from my roland sampler....but no, that scratch stop option is dope....ugh! fuck!.....lucky.

contact mic into noise synth gives the man in my head a boner, which pokes the back of my eye and makes me cry.
