small dual-mono long-sweep random-length-depth-speed subtle-drastic mod machine?
I loop 6 amps, a "bass" and drums on separate loops so I'm think about something that would slowly but subtly and/or drastically, and randomly, modulate the loops that have been looping for a long time, with little in between the subtle and the drastic.

Modulate in what way? Pitch, phase, filter/frequency emphasis, volume? (I only ask because some will be easier with racks and some with mixers and stuff).
Table top/synth setup, guitar, other ergonomics? Need remote or voltage control or is turning a knob ok?
You could get like some kind of multiple channel modular setup and run everything that way (Toppobrillo makes a mixer that accepts line in, has voltage controlled volume and has aux sends).
A normal mixer with aux sends running through racks with a switching/panning setup could work too.
Or midi sync a few true stereo multi fx units?
I think panning and blending is going to be key to the whole thing. Like split the channels, effect one split, then pan/blend between.

What are you using to record and playback the loops? Is midi control an option?

I'm sorry, i should have been more specific. It would be nice to select different kinds of modulation: flange, phase, tremolo etclordgalvar wrote:Modulate in what way? This is a pedalboard setup with 6 parallel channels (essentially 3 dual-mono channels), one "bass" amp (just the guitar pitched down an octave) and a stand up kit (kick, snare and djembe) . Those 8 channels are going into a sound card.
Circular Labs Mobius. I could midi control modulating volume but I can't do phase modulation or doubling and subtly flanging.spacelordmother wrote:What are you using to record and playback the loops? Is midi control an option?
It's 2017, I'm surprised there's no small modulation device that would do these things.

Sounds like you're headed for eurorack.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

You're already inside a computer using Mobius -- maybe buy a controller (Novation Launchcontrol XL?) that comes with Ableton Live Lite and integrate? A quick look seems to imply they can work together, and Ableton would allow you to keep all the channels separate and set up as many complicated effects chains and aux sends as your CPU can handle.manymanyhaha wrote:Circular Labs Mobius. Re: small dual-mono long-sweep random-length-depth-speed sub
Post-PC interface at consumer-ish line level to post-process the loops?
Dual mono of the same processing or independent processing? (The later will be a hard find in a pedal--Strymon Mobius and Boss MD-500, but not much else and hardly anything cheap.)
I agree that ITB processing of the PC looper with free plugins should be at least your first stop. Proof of concept if nothing else before adding hardware, more expensive plugs, or building the modulators in Max or PD.
