Re: Team VOLCA!!!!
Here's what I do:
Pocket Piano midi out controlling Volca FM's sequencer. FM clocking a PO-12. Pro-tip: PO-12 is better sounding and more fun than the Volca. The effects are dirt-nasty.

Re: Team VOLCA!!!!
I'm not very familiar with the Volca's yet except for the beats. So here, I synced them all up and started pushing buttons.

Use both the beats and keys for live and recording. The ability to sync them is great. I don't do anything cutting edge with the, but for utilitarian electronic stuff they do a great job!

I picked up a volca fm and I am really impressed but the midi implementation and the ability to edit adjust parameters is way too limited ...

There are some fm synth apps out there that are great learning tools for fm synth. Once you understand certain concepts surrounding fm synth it becomes more intuitive.Disarm D'arcy wrote:Volca Sample is now my main source of drums

Oh I've used software FM synths forever. It's mostly a figuring the Volca's workflow / capabilities in depth thing.

I downloaded Reaper and installed dexed so I could upload syx files from the DX7. I also bought a Windows10 compatible usb to midi cable. I can now upload old DX7 patches into the Volca FM. It's super easy. There's a guy who has a TON of DX7 patches for download for free: http://bobbyblues.recup.ch/yamaha_dx7/dx7_patches.htmlDisarm D'arcy wrote:Oh I've used software FM synths forever. Re: Team VOLCA!!!!
About the Volca Kick, how hard or easy is it to program a sequence with a massive kick sound and another higher sounding snare-like/bleep/blip? Could this stand on it's own as the only drum machine in a party of noise makers or is it really best as a supplement to another drum source? Will Korg ever make a Volca Snare? Why do they only limit Volcas to 16 storage slots?
I ask because I had a mishap with my Drumbrute last night and erased my full bank of patterns. I can't even look at it this morning. Realize that it is still probably the best drum machine for me for sound options and storage space.

Re: Team VOLCA!!!!
I got a Volca Sample off BST. Not sure which setup I'm going to try first: mono through some dirt and compression, or with a stereo breakout to some stereo reverbs/delays. I could also theoretically hard pan samples and have one channel running into a mono chain and the other running into a stereo chain. I'll probably learn how to use it with its built-in samples but I'm reallllly looking forward to loading my own stuff up.

Re: Team VOLCA!!!!
Anybody use a keyboard for their volcas? There are lots of cool midi USB controllers with stuff like arpeggiators and savable presets and stuff but not sure how to connect that with standard midi. Any recommendations?
