The drift in some analog osc's, to give an example, is pretty objective.

You're saying that like you think I don't know. I'm pretty sure I've made it loud and clear that I was expressing my own opinion.

Drift in them can be modelled as well, and varies a ton.

I've used analog units that couldn't stay even vaguely tuned, and some that just didn't waver once they were warm.

And you're making comments as if everything is to be discarded that doesn't explicitly, 100% agree...so...not surprising the responses.

You've got an opinion. Got it.

Some of us don't necessarily agree with all or part of it!

Yeah, it can be modelled, but then it'll be a piece of code made by a dude somewhere, telling it when to drift, instead of it just being a result of a particular design. And again, my experience with this type of application, is that it fucking bores me.

Where do you see me discarding anyone solely based on them disagreeing, and not cause of the way they proposed their argument?
The responses I've gotten, in this thread and in the gear preview, have been from people who in the past have gone out of their way to discard my opinion. So yeah, I'm not surprised either :)

I don't think I've ever attacked you? Just a differing opinion on one thing? I don't like the route this thread is taking. Lol. It's just fun talk. I guess we need to just apologize and give each other hand jobs.

I'll start. Whip them out boys. ;)

You haven't. I wasn't referring to you with the discarding comment. I also have nothing to apologize for, but will take a free handjob.

As far as the route of the thread goes, I only have one thing to say

It is OK to use an admixture of analog / digital if you're doing something creative but really, you should stick to a genre, even if it's a micro genre, so you know what kind of gear to use.

I heard a guy used a COMPUTER ONLY SET UP to do a fidget house record and it blew my mind because fidget house can only be made on digital outboard gear, as everyone knows.

God help you if you are doing ambient because the only gear for ambient is a field recorder and a delay pedal. Everything else is not ambient but some other bullshit entirely. Check Wikipedia if you don't believe me, too lazy to paste link.

:)
Yup. This is exactly why I have three separate guitar rigs: blues, metal, and post rock

blues: strat --> Klon --> Dumble
metal: les pail --> (full line of EVH signature pedals) --> Peavy 6505
post rock: jazzmaster --> DS-1 --> DD-7 --> volume pedal --> DD7 --> fender twin

I can't imagine trying to play anything but blues or maybe blues rock with a strat

You need a Micro POG for post rock. You're clearly talking out your ass.

Les pail!

Isn't that what a French plumber yells when the water heater breaks?

95% of all posts on this forum are a attempt at trolling that 50% of the time end as being helpful despite the poster's intentions...
